Ha um are you serious? That would probably be the dumbest thing you could possibly try to do. That car already isn't worth their asking price, if you tried to trade it in right after buying it, the depreciation would probably be horrendous.

If I was a lot closer to it I would go look just for grins.

If they did a real good job repairing it then it would probably be worth about $16-17K.

You couldn't buy it and then hope to trade it for a new one. Any dealer would check it's history and the major repair would be on the report for sure.

So far the least expensive '10 base GT I have found is right at $25K and the car in question is on an auction so it could be had for less so long as someone doesn't get stupid on the bidding.

Or, you may be able to call that dealer and offer less than their buy it now price and they may take it and end the auction...
I have a 2010 Mustang GT Premium Auto with 6,100 Miles on it! It's Kona Blue and it has every option available except the glass roof. MSRP on it was $38,080.00. The car is flawless.

$28,500.00 Takes it!

I personally would never pay $20,000 for a 6 year old car.

But that's just me.

Kicker is that as it was sitting on their lot near the highway, a 18 wheeler going by lost a wheel and it hit the car and did almost $15,000 damage. They completely repaired it but to buy the car you have to sign a statement that you know that it was damaged and repaired. It will still have the full factory warranty on it.

Now, if it was fixed right it should be okay, but I bought a car once that I didn't know had been wrecked and it hadn't been fixed right, never did drive like it should.

But, this is the lowest price so far for a new 2010 GT...
The main problem is if you plan to resell it in the near future, CarFax will show the accident and damage. And with so many Mustangs available for sale nobody will want one that had $15,000 worth of damages.

I bet it wasn't up to the dealer, though I don't know how dealership insurance works. I'm just thinking that it's usually up to the insurance company whether a car is repaired or written off as a total loss.

Carfax is a joke. Most of the time repairs arent even reported to it. My 92 5.0 was rear ended 4x and had one major front end collision. Carfax = clean.

Well, carfax or not, the repair to this Mustang will be on Ford's records since it was a Ford dealer body shop that did the repairs.

Good luck to the bid winner!
