Anyone know how to disable the DVD lock

Ok so I have my 7 year old who would like to watch a movie on the screen but as soon as i drive it get's blocked. I know this is a safety feature but I NEVER try and watch a movie while i'm driving. In my 1999 Gt i had it unlocked and it was great on long trips. It would be nice to disable this feature. Anyone know how?

Do let us know if you go through with it, would be a neat feature to have for the passenger.

I heard the Lock Pick works too.... I'd be interested too, but be careful -- depending on where you live the ticket is pretty hefty if the cops nail you.

A handheld DVD player is less than $100, the passenger can hold in their hand. And it's not illegal. I have a pair for long trips that came with brackets that clip onto the headrest for backseat passengers.

I don't watch movies on the go, And i do understand the safety factor of it. It's just a good thing to be able to bypass it on long drives with the kids. As for the lock pick... too dam expensive. I could use that $$$ for mods and live with the screen lock.

Like I said, you can pick up a pair of DVD players for less than $200. The added function is that they can wear headphones so you don't have to listen to Dora or The Wiggles.

I agree with Matt. I picked up 2 9" Sony's for my kids. Not only do you not have to listen to there DVD's but it also works out great when your flying or in hotels. I paid $150.00 each and it was well worth it.

The law doesn't care if you watch it or not. If it's in view of the driver it's illegal and you will get ticketed. I'm with the others - a portable DVD player would be a good idea.

You should have both hands on the steering wheel anyway.
