Which bulb set works with the fogs? As I would like to do this as well when I get my car.

I have a DDM Tuning kit in my car (2000, so disregard the bulb sizes in here). The quality is the same as the $300 kit I used to have, although the old one was a true Bi-Xenon kit with 4 ballasts and two bulbs on the single 9007 bulbs. The only thing is, they sent me the wrong harness. I got the high/low kit from them, but apparently the 9004 and 9007 harnesses are exactly the same except for two wires being switched around. I emailed and called them since the kit is supposed to have a lifetime warranty. They won't send me another harness. They told me to just switch the wires in the connector that goes to the stock wiring. Now I'm not driving right now, so it's not a big deal (the low beams work, it's just the high beams that don't work) but I tried and tried with every pick tool/needle nose pliers etc and could not get those pins out of the connector. How EFFing hard is it to just send me the correct harness so I can send that one back?!?

So that is my experience with DDM. The ballasts are small and easy to hide. But you will need a high/low kit so it will need to hook up to your battery and a ground. Search YouTube. There are a few videos of Sterling Gray and Grabber Blue 2010 GTs with 5000k kits. I believe they have the brand in the description.

 

What about not going with a Xenon style but a hyperwhite, possibly even a low wattage style?

Otherwise I guess they will have to be the horrid **** yellow color.

 

The Sylvania SilverStar Ultras are a good substitute...but I wouldn't pay the price for them. I have a buddy who works at Pep Boys though so....

Plus you can't beat the look of HIDs firing up!

 

I was just referencing the fog lights. Just to do some matching. I saw an S197 about a month ago that looked like he either had the HID fog conversion or hyper white/blue? It was not directly behind me and I didn't get a great look but I did think to myself that's what I would like to do since I don't want the sad looking yellow hue of the fog lights to mix with the bright white/blue of the HID lights.

I was kinda. I was more listing an alternative for the HID low beams...

And when HIDs were first coming out, I subscribe to the "I want all my lights to match" way of thinking. I got over it. Around here all the (true) ricers have all their blue/hyperwhite lights matching. The JDM guys go with the yellow/amber foglights. I prefer that style now. I like my car to look OEM Custom, if that makes sense. You can tell it is a little different, but could have come that way. All cars with OEM HIDs or LED headlights have halogen foglights. Foglights don't do much anyways. They do light up more to the sides of the road (foglights, not the GT's 'driving lights') so IMO it's good to have some contrast in your fogs.

But to each his own. If it were my car I'd go with 4300-5000k HID high/low beams and 3000k foglights...

 

Driving lights, fog lights....sheesh I'm tying my own noose here!

I like the OEM custom look as well, thus the reason I would like my ducks in a row, I don't want anything to seem out of place.

I think I'm going to go with the Stangmods kit. If I don't like it, I can always revert back. They have a lifetime guarantee and free shipping.

They will work fine if you get the right size. A lot of people have done it. I've had my HIDs in stock housings for 5 years and no one has ever flashed their brights at me. It all depends on how the reflectors are aimed, and some cars' lights are better than others. I personally would go with 4300k all around if you want them the same. That is the OEM color for most cars, bright white. It gives you the most usable light. And won't draw the wrong kind of attention to you, while being pretty unnoticeable to cops.

 

4300K provides the most light. And since VA is inspection crazy, the least likely to raise the ire of the state inspector annually. That will be the route I go. I don't need no stinkin' purple headlights.

 

Exactly. Throw some silverstars into the foglights if you want. If I get a V6 I'm not sure if I will go factory HIDs though. I'm thinking I MAY get them, then pickup a set of non-HID housings, and retrofit the projectors into them. But then again, I have no fear of tearing into my brand new car haha. We'll see...

I wish I could see 2010+ cars with factory non-HID lights, aftermarket 4300k kit installed, and factory HIDs back to back to back at night.

 

Maybe we can get a photo collage of my car and orange3.9stang's.

The biggest reasons I'm inclined to do this is a) it's not THAT expensive and b) it can easily be undone if it sucks.

And spot-on with the silverstar fogs. Those little lights in the lower bumper will need updating as well.

 

DDM is crap. Go with RetroSolutions with bulb capping. 35 watt 5000k ftw. 5000k is perfectly white. 6000k has a tint of blue.
