Anyone else mad they changed the model so soon?

The engine and styling is fundamentally different between an '05 and a '12. About the only thing that is identical is the frame, and it wouldn't surprise me if that was different in some ways as well. The '05 and the '12 are similar only in that they're Mustangs. Aside from that they're almost completely different.
Just because 90% of the people looking at the two of them can't tell them apart doesn't make them identical vehicles. That's ridiculous. By that line of thinking, you're going to need to get others' opinions on what they think of your car before you buy one. Good luck with that.

No.
Disappointed?
That's your opinion. It's pretty irrelevent in the grand scheme of things though. If Ford wants to sell more Mustangs then they need to make bigger changes in the style, and make those changes more often than they do now. Especially with the much newer looking Camaro on the streets.
Let me make a comparison here. Look at a Japanese car that is consistently one of the best selling cars on the market, the Toyota Camry.
2005
2008
2012
vs...
2005
2008
2012
The Camry has actually gone through 4 distinct body changes since 2005, each easily recognizagble. The Mustang has barely changed at all.

If you're buying a Mustang for what others will think about it, you're doing it wrong.

You're actually comparing the body style of a Camry to the body style of a Mustang? THE Mustang? The most iconic car in U.S. automotive history? The harbinger of the Muscle Car era? A car in the middle of a styling trend which is DESIGNED to call back to the original style and shape of the first '60's cars?
If you can't understand Ford's reasoning for this, you're ignorant.
Then again, I think that conclusion is inevitable since you felt it necessary to compare the Mustang's styling to--of all things--a Camry.
There's a Scion TC out there somewhere with your name on it.

Seriously, step away from the hardcore Mustang enthusiast web sites like this one and go talk to the average person on the street. Most can't tell the difference between a 2005 V6 and a 2012 GT.
My wife thought she was clever when she told me that she finally figured out that if it had round lights in the grill it was a GT. That's typical of most people.
We buy out mustangs not only for ourselves, but for "swag," bragging rights, we buy for aftermarket potential, we buy for our love of Mustangs. Just because someone cant tell the diff between a 05-09 an 10-12 models doesnt mean much to us. If it really bothered us we would enlighten the poor individual but it really doesnt.
Thy why theres forums like this, a place for nutheads like us to gather and blab about the new bumpsteer kit we got, the fresh detail job we just did, or announce when our car is going in/out of storage. Let us do our thing, if it bothers you, then dont pay attention to whatevers buggin ya.
(stressful day, just a lil vent. Not comin across as a bady guy here just speakin some truth.)

Why does everyone get so defensive about every subject I mean look either you like it or you don't you don't have to argue about how they're the same or different or whatever just give your perspective and be understanding of what others say like seriously

i think its good they made the changes, keeps it interesting. i much prefer the '10-'12 style over the '13 so there's no reason to be mad or trade in for the new one. I just wish the new tails were the right size for a retrofit.

05-09 was the same body, changes occurred very subtly and they were more mechnical than aesthetic. And oh yea 08-12 is "the same" the only things the same are the doors, 4 seats, a steering wheel, seat belts you get what im saying. But the fenders, quarter panels, wheels and tires, hood, front fascia, rear fascia, diffuser, tailights, mechanics, suspension, brakes, engine, transmissions, yea all that other stuff too. I actually asked several random people what year they thought my car was and 90% knew it was a 10+ model. I then asked about the camaro and the majority only knew that it was new because o transformers. Unlike the camaro and challenger, the mustang never went on a hiatus. Therefore the designs have been around longer than others.
Before i start babbling lemme just get to the point. If you dont like it then fine, but teres no need to rain on anyone else's parade. If you dont like the styling and looks so much why not get rid of the stang and buy something boring and dull like a camry. Leave the rip snortin beasts for real enthusiasts to drive. That is all

the 2005 vs 2012 is also really stupid. Both cars are mustangs but they are almost as different as a 2004 vs a 2005.. you need to get real. pretty much the only thing that is the same is the platform and like someone else said I would put money on it that its had atleast a small update.
Saying its the same because it has fenders and such is like saying its the same as a f150 because it has fenders. Atleast the f150 would have the option of having a driveline thats in the same family.. goodness man.. I mean really...
