Anyone considering a 2010 GT instead of a 2011 GT now?
Anyone considering a 2010 GT instead of a 2011 GT now?
I know there have been posts before, and discussions in the past, but to bring it up yet again and make it current, anyone considering buying a 2010 GT vs. the 2011 GT if the incentives are right?
And, with that said, what would the difference have to be to make you go with the 2010?
I saw older post looking for the price to be around 28K, do people still feel that way with 0-60 sec and 1/4 miledifference as well as the handling changes noted by the various car rags?
The update on the v6 is big enough that, at least to me, it is not even a question, but I do wonder about the GT.
One of the best pieces of advice I read in a similar post on this board was that the 2010 GT should be about the price or lower than the 2011 V6, I thought that was a great way to look at it (apologies for not citing the forum member for this idea, but great idea).
I am leaning towards a 2011, but get a bit heartburn around the 35K price tag. So I looked for a deal on the 2010s. However, with an x-plan (or Jeff's offer) it seems like you can avoid all of the forecasted crazy dealer markups due to high demand on the 2011, so then the only wild car is the financing (no, I am not dropping 35K cash).
The 0% deal is great right now, it can shave a 2-3k off a 60 month. But no matter how I boil it down, I am only finding about a 5K (approx. 3K under sticker plus 2K rebates instead of 0% rate)change in the cost of the acutal car.
Anyone want to chime in with their thoughts?
Thanks...

If I were in a position where I couldn't afford a 2011 GT with the options I want (premium package, optional wheels, glass roof, navigation) and I had to choose between a 2010 GT with all the goodies or a 2011 GT with no options, I'd rather have the 2010.
If my financial future then became brighter, it's not that hard to add a supercharger kit to bring the 2010 to 2011 power levels (or beyond). To try to retrofit the other things like Sync, factory navigation, glass roof to a 2011 would be impractical.
And for those not already "spoiled" by 300+ hp engines, they may find the 2010 GT more than satisfying anyway, so why not exploit the discounts/rebates/low interest and get a 2010? Put the money saved into taking a grand coast-to-coast road trip.

im still considering a 2010. only because i know i cant afford 11 gt premium convertble so my choice is order a gt coupe and have the bad azz peformace or buy a 2010 vert like i found in saddle interior and manual trans and have the drop top plusure of a gt for around 30k
plus we dont know what problems the 11s will have but know they just bout got all the bugs worked out for the 2010
that bing said. it is not a easy decision at all.

lol...I remember that car and driver article, I have even re-read it about five times.
That dates back to a year ago when, gasp...I was looking at a camaro!
The thing I found funny is I was pissed that the mustang won because i felt they had it winning on subjective items, one was the "gotta have it factor"! What the hell is that.
Now that I look at it with a bias towards the mustang..I think, **** right!
But it would be nice to be fast as hell with the 2011 as well!

Well, I bought the 2010 V6 a couple weeks ago because, quite simply, I didn't want to wait. I didn't buy it to drive hard, I bought it because I wanted a Mustang. With the current rebates, and assuming they won't have any on the '11s for awhile, I figured the difference between the '10 now and '11 in three or four months was gonna be at least $3500, and maybe more if they move them out like I think they will.
I'll be keeping this until at least the anniversary edition, at which point I'll be in a position to get the GT (at least). My only real concern was the possible resale stigma with the smaller V6... but if I was a dad looking for a first Mustang for junior, I'd be specifically looking for 'less'. And mine will be immaculate and with reasonable mileage.
If I'd been wanting a GT to drive fast, no question I would've waited for the '11.

in the end i may wind up waiting. who knows. i dont need a car. a stang is a luxury not a need. lol. abeit a kick butt luxury

Looks much more GOLD in the sun but these are the best pics I have right now ...
FYI ... I went with a 2010 because I like things that are Different ... and the Gold is a low production 1 year only color .. so its definitely different!

i like that. i bet she turns like four different shades in the light.

I drove the 10 GT and loved it. If I couldve bought the option/color combo I wanted I would have done it. Now I'm not in a position to get ANYthing ANY time soon, so I'm miserable reading this stuff. But I'm glad you guys are in a better position and love to see the new stories every day. I personally love the notion of having 400+ hp and a new 5.0, but I'm not in love with the sound of the engine from the reviews. If they put out a new Bullitt with this engine, I'd be all over it. But from the vids we've seen so far, I prefer the sound of the 4.6 and the 10 was more than enough car for me at this point in my life, especially at the deals you can find right now. It's going to be different for you though.
All that being said, if I had the money, I'd go with the 11 because I'd like having the Brembo Pkg and everything warrantied from the factory. I'd do coilovers, exhaust and a new stereo and be done with the car for good.
