2010-2014 Mustang Information on The S197 {GenII}

Anyone considering a 2010 GT instead of a 2011 GT now?

I personally love the notion of having 400+ hp and a new 5.0, but I'm not in love with the sound of the engine from the reviews. If they put out a new Bullitt with this engine, I'd be all over it. But from the vids we've seen so far, I prefer the sound of the 4.6 and the 10 was more than enough car for me at this point in my life, especially at the deals you can find right now. It's going to be different for you though.

All that being said, if I had the money, I'd go with the 11 because I'd like having the Brembo Pkg and everything warrantied from the factory. I'd do coilovers, exhaust and a new stereo and be done with the car for good.
you bring a valid point to the table. if you get a 2010 you know you will be trying to mod the heck out of it. but a 2011 will be plenty of uummp and they only mods most will need is exhaust for sound, stereo for tunes, and shifter to clean up sloppyness

For me it's a no brainer. On the 2010 you cant get the track pack and glass roof on the same car.

Don't settle, if you want the 11 get the 11.

The only problem with having a 2011 .. is the day a 500HP Supercharged 2010 passes you and knowing that not only is the 2010 faster but also cost less in the long run ....

Tough call, since I hear that Van Bortel Ford up in NY will order you an '11 at invoice. Therefore, the only way I would consider a '10 over an '11 would be at invoice minus $5K in rebates. Maybe $4K. My reasoning is that the 5.0 is such a huge leap forward that it probably worth $3K with nothing else changed, and add the fact that the '10 is a left over at this point and that should be worth another $1-2K.

If you do it right, a supercharged 10 will end up costing roughly the same as a new 11, all other things equal. You may even spend more if you upgrade the brakes to match the factory Brembos. But, you should definitely have more power.

Well I just think its possible for multiple otucomes. For example someone who buys a '10 now will definitely save a lot of money. But there are many who bought the '10s when there were no rebates, in which case there is only about a $1200 difference between the two.

My take is '10 owners and '11 owners should just enjoy what they have because they both have AWESOME cars. And they are BOTH worth the price IMO

Agreed. There's certain features I like about the 11 that weren't available on the 10, but I **** sure wouldn't turn down the keys to a 10. And like I said, from the videos posted, I like the sound of the old mod motors better than the new 5.0. I'm liking the sound of the new V6 better than the 5.0, from some vids! To me, that's more important than all out hp. I would be perfectly happy with a 2010/11 300+ hp Mustang right now. Whichever the flavor...

I concur .... it's just that there are already 2011 5.0 GT snobs coming out of the woodwork shunning the 2010 GT like its crap and a waste of money ....

I do however feel for the folks that bought the 2010 GT when it first hit the showroom ... at least I knew the 5.0 was coming and paid less for the 2010 because of that.

Actually ... it would be a pretty good marketing scheme for Ford to add a dealer installed RoushCharger option to unsold GT's for like $2K to move the remaining cars.

I have MONEY to customize my Stang, will you?

I completely understand what your going thru right now ! Had my heart set on the 5.0 Race Red or Yellow Blaze for it's unique color, Anyway, saw Sterling in person and LOVED It (lottsa metal in the paint) with all the black accents, especially how the backassed diaper just seemed to blend in so nice. Since Apple Ford came down on there "no haggle" internet price to the tone of an additional $1k it just seemed to me like the most financially responsible choice. Since then I've tinted all the windows 20%, put a clear bra on the entire front (VentureShield actually, AutoArmor only a mile from the dealer, They did a killer install at a VERY reasonable CASH price)

Next, a decklid panel on the back, looks really nice with spoiler delete & diaper. Also I ordered nice floormats online. . . and now louvers for the back window.

Now I just can't decide on exhaust, Magnaflow Magnapak, Roush, Flowmaster... oh my ! After that I'm buying C&L CAI w/ tune combo, ... considering superchg dwn the line... but worried about gas mileage, gotta do some research, I drive 70 miles a day !

The point of my long story is simply this, I have MONEY to customize my Stang to my spec, not Ford or the dealer. I would've never been able to if I spent that additional $7k - 9K that I saved buying the 2011. POINT ! You know what my long term goal is? The 2014, once all the bugz are worked out of the new drivetrain (hope for everyone there aren't any, not even one, let us prey) I myself have had way to many recalls on dayz gone by.

Best of luck with your decision !

I hear ya, some people do act like the 2010 is crap when its not.

And I like you roushcharger idea. It would probably help to move units

Just got quoted 33,427 plus a $95 doc fee for a 2011 premium, 3:73s, Bembo.

About 2,300 off MSRP.

I figure it as right at invoice w/shipping and ad fee.

Sound right?

Congrats man. I wish I could say the 2014 is on my wish list, but due to being a retard, I don't think I'll even be looking at a NEW stang for at least 7, maybe 10 years. Ugh.

What's amazing to me is how much some dealers are trying to get for USED 2010 Mustang GT's. For what some are asking you can buy a new one. Cars with 10-12K miles on them and the asking prices are in the $26-28K range!

Yes, but are they actually SELLING them at that price? Not to ME they aren't!

I did see a 2009 Bullitt, loaded with everything except the nav system and only 900 miles actually sell for $27K just recently, but I can't see why anyone in their right mind would pay that kind of money for a regular used GT right now.

I think that might have been me, that's my story and I'm sticking to it . . . yes the 2010 GT has the V8 sound and torque, but the 2011 V6 has the MPG, the 6-speed, and the other new goodies, to me it's about a wash.

So in short I am very much interested in a 2010 GT if I can find one at the right price, and that "right price" would be about the same or a little less than a comparable 2011 V6, which works out to roughly $8K under sticker. I have seen some posts about some going in that price range, but unfortunately they have strings attached (like the one at Apple that I checked out, the price did not include the $850 delivery fee and also required the Ford high-rate financing) or they are on the other side of the country. (like 5-0-Brian's listings)

There are still a few 2010 GT's here in the Northeast, I have been talking with some of the dealers about the numbers I outlined above, and so far they are more or less laughing at me. (Not to my face, but so far none of them have called me back.)

So, I'm patiently waiting, if the right deal on a 2010 GT comes along I'll go for it, if not I am perfectly happy to wait for a 2011 V6 with Performance Package later in the summer / fall . . . and by then if my piggy bank is a little fatter than expected it might turn out to be a 5.0 . . .

Wait a bit. Your deal will come along. I beat the Apple price, and got the financing. I did this in MD, although I don't live there. Apple seems to influence Balto area dealers on price. My car is 6500-8000 less than what I would spend to order from Jeff for a similar 2011 GT. There is a lot of enjoyment in knowing I got a great price. Will you or someone else get one cheaper. Undoubtedly. Will I care? No. I'm one who suffers from over analyzing things, and this deal still feels awesome three weeks later. Driving the V8? Holy hell. It has a radio, I don't why. The sound of the car is amazing. It is the car for me.

Good luck with your search.

what i have done to get the financing rebate is makes 1 payment and refinance wherever the better deal is, all you have to do is make 1 payment on it
