What I meant was - if there wasn't a Mustang, there would not be a Camaro. Most likely. The Mustang started the whole thing in '64. The Mustang was never dropped.

If there wasn't a Camaro, then there probably wouldn't be one with an LS3. It really has nothing to do with the 4.6, the 5.0 or any other motor.

 

Camaro5 members are so full of themselves and think there cars are gods gift to the road...

Any thread with 5.0 or Ford in it turns into a fight.

I sold my Camaro, going to put my deposit on 5.0 tomorrow. Nuff said!

 

It's more like denial5.com seriously, the mustang can run 10 seconds out of the dealership and they WILL make something stupid up about it.

 

Heaven forbid a guy with an auto Dodge Challenger R/T posts running a low 13 second run @108mph there too....they go bat $***.

 

Why do Camaro owners feel the need to bash the mustang so hard?

Are they that insecure? I don't see threads on mustang forums saying what a piece of sh*t the Camaro is.

I guess Mustang owners know how good of a vehicle they own and don't need to defend it

ok, how in the world to you tell your own camaro brethren to not drive a 400hp car "abusively" it has launch control, it has over 400 hp and you are saying to your own people that they shouldn't abuse it? that car better be able to handle the abuse IT WAS MADE FOR like the mustang or else throw that v8 engine out.

I beat my car like I want to blow it up before the warranty expires and it laughs at me.
if you are going to make a car in this category make it right, if it was meant to be driven like grandma throw a 4 cyl. in it and call it a day.

I think the need to bash the Mustang comes from the origins of the Camaro as a "me too" vehicle. Not that there haven't been some awesome Camaros over the years. But everyone knows that the Camaro was created because GM saw the success of the Mustang.

Really, I welcome the rivalry so long as it is friendly. The 2005 Mustang led to Chevy bringing the Camaro back. LS3 Camaro put the fire under Ford to give us the 5.0. We all win.

legitimate problems the thread is not bad now so check it out before the bashers come in and tell the guy he is a troll and that their cars are perfect, watch the evolution of what these guys do to their own people when they complain about their car.

 

maybe the engine and transmission choices for 2011 were made in respect to the camaros, but that doesn't explain the 2005. ford could have kept the 2V 4.6 making 260 HP and the 3.8 V6 making some low number since the camaro was out, but they decided to give Mustang owners a car to appreciate. giving the 4.0 210 HP and 240lb-ft exceeded most older GT's by a good chunk, the 4.6 put the GT in an all new category of refinement. if it wasn't for 2005's retro look, Camaro and Challenger would still be in the dumps. i'd be positive to bet that the 5.0 would have come out regardless or the new camaro.

regardless, C5 is in denial. yes, the camaro has outsold the Mustang but how many of us waited on the new 5.0? when they were bragging about their sales, a few guys had commented that it's because of the hiatus and i had chimed in it's also because many of us are waiting on the 5.0. many of them also swear GM will do something drastically different to make the 2011 camaro compete, but i don't see that happening.

like what has been said, you buy your car because you like it. just because a magazine company tells you your car isn't as fast shouldn't make you butt hurt. after i sat in the camaro, i knew i couldn't own it. i thought it was completely uncomfortable and horrible as a DD. i'm buying a 2011 because i love the comfort, amenities, styling, power, and pleasure i get. buying it to beat another car is stupid since someone will always be faster.
