So are there published figures from a credible source, or are you asking us to assume that your figures are credible (I ask because I'm not seeing those figures backed up in real life - you know, cars in traffic - plus what I remember seeing from credible sources)? Okay, I just checked credible sources, and you are right as far as I can tell. Sorry to question your credibility.

LOL, i see you're not going to listen to reason, keep drinking that blue colored cool aid.

Not sure I understand how the 4.6 300 hp mustang forced gm to put the ls3 in the camaro. but OK

How about a gentlemen's bet about which will win this year?

You hit the nail on the head. They were so many people 'waiting' for the return of the Camaro. Now its here and sales are great!!! Just wait another year or two.........sales are going to drop (in my opinion) to the point that G.M. might have a hard time to justify the Camaro being produced, once again........

Mustang sales were slower than normal for 2010 because (in my opinion), people like me were waiting for the 2011's because of the new engines and transmissions.

Exactly, of course you ask a chevy guy and it's because the camaro came out

My car is 10 years old and no way i am buying that fisher price piece of ****, i would have gotten a 2010 if it wouldn't have been for the 5.0

we'll all be vindicated by the time baseball playoffs start

That's exactly it really. I personally lived that decision. I was looking for a new car last year, but I ended up waiting after I heard about the Coyote engine. I liked the Camaro's power, and I didn't think it looked bad, but I really preferred the 2010 Mustang in virtually every other aspect... except the powertrain... which was due to be fixed in 2011. Easy choice. 5.0.

I think my got the 3.7 instead of the 3.5 V6 and the 5.0 1 or 2 years early thanks to the Maro. We'll see where we are at in a year but I expect the Mustang to outsell the Camaro in 2011. The Mullet nation has been satisfied and Mustang supporters knew the new engines were coming.

Pretty much all the Mustang fans who cared knew about the engine upgrades for 2011. It was a really badly kept secret.

LOL at the sales charts. Just make sure you keep recording when the 5.0 and 3.7 hit.

Another article concerning GM's bookkeeping and press releases: http://www.denverpost.com/opinion/ci_14957343 Here's an excerpt:
"Exhibiting quite a lot of gall, General Motors is trying to spin the public with an ad campaign launched last week based on breathtakingly misleading information.

As partial owners of the company, the American taxpayers who saved it from economic ruin deserve better.

Shown strolling down an assembly line, GM's new chief executive brags that the company has repaid its government loans "in full, with interest, five years ahead of the original schedule."

The executive, Ed Whitacre, repeated the claim in an op-ed headlined "The GM Bailout: Paid Back In Full" in The Wall Street Journal.

The assertion is based on the fact that GM used funds from a line of credit offered to it under TARP to pay off a $5.8 billion loan from the U.S. and Canadian governments. In other words, GM paid off a fraction of the tens of billions of dollars taxpayers have invested in the company from another taxpayer-funded account.

Meanwhile, the company continues to lose money, though it has shown promising signs of late in increased sales."

As I read the this post about how the camaro falls short of the the Mustang and how GM sucks, etc, I'm sure the the exact reverse is being said on GM forums. I am a Chevy guy but agree with you guys when it comes to the Mustang, funky rear bumper and all. However, I think both sides need to understand that the evolution of the Mustang (and Camaro for that matter) are directly related to their head to head competition. If the Camaro had not come out or had failed, we may not be looking at a factory 412hp GT (lord knows what the SE models will hold) There is a market for both, let's hope both stay strong so we can enjoy the benefits that competition brings. Better cars, better efficiency, Big HP!

Me too. I came here researching the 2014 Mustang. I have a 2007 Dodge and figured 2014 would be a good time to buy a new car and move back to Ford. My last New Mustang (4th one since 1976) was a 1986 3.8 V-6. Now with the children gone and doing well, the Mustang is the right size for me. On this forum people were starting to talk about new engines and transmissions for the 2011's. I loved the body changes done to the 2010's. The more i heard about the 2011's the more i wanted one. 412 horsepower is more than i need so i ordered me a V-6 and it is in 'Transit' right now. Could come in any day. I wouldn't be buying a 2011 Mustang if it wasn't for the new engine and transmission. I think 2011 is going to be a good year for the Mustang and Ford Motor Company!!!

The only true proof of a vehicles performance is a close as your local dragstrip. Magazine testers, dyno operators, "true believers" can and usually will cook the numbers to their liking. Chevy guys do it, Ford guys do it, Dodge guys do it, ect. but at the dragstrip on the same day racing in the same conditions with similar skilled drivers the BS stops. On a side note if the Mustang wins.....the Camaro drivers will still drive Camaros and bash Mustangs, the Mustang looses......Mustang drivers will still drive Mustangs and bash GM. And the worlds still turns...............the Mustang is still the hotter car.

Saw some guy responding to people over there posting the mustang running 12.7x in more than one owners hand (they had been saying it was a fluke and ford gave a ringer to MT to run 12.7) the guy goes "whatever I didn't see it happen who cares, camaro is king."

You'll never convince them. Even if he saw it, he'll make some excuse about the weather conditions or a faulty timer.
