I leave some of my rubber on, sort of a badge or honor.

Great times, btw.

Doesn't sound good for the tranny and/or rear end.

Hope it isn't the engine.

i guess im going to hold off on powershifting the car. a t-45 would hold up better than that.

Hopefully it is a freak deal.

Either way you going to race the car you will be rebuilding the tranny if you plan on adding more power and running slicks.

I think people are getting ahead of themselves skipping the break in period and I don't mean the engine, how about the tranny, how about some heat cycles? wearing those gears in so they seat correcty? synchros, bearing, bushings, spacers, shime, springs etc... you think these parts don't need some wearing in?

I run my car hard, went easy on the shifting but hard on the engine for the first 500 miles, then got hard on the shifting when I felt comfortable, I have over 45 1/4 passes not a single issue.

I do think running them very hard from the start might not be the best option.

I'm all for running the ENGINE hard on break in to get a good seat on the rings, but the tranny is a different beast, and all those parts inside have to get comfortable and run through some heat cycles they stretch, expand, contract etc...

the gears where not seated properly yet or worn in at all.

30 passes right away powershifting and your garunteed for this to happen.
hell if you drive on the freeway too long when the car is BRAND new your will get a decent gear whine from the diff.

yeah this did it for me. i'll take it easy on the car for a while. ill still race it, but not abuse it. may cost a few tenths, but i do not want to have warranty work done immediately.
