Amsoil/Ford Racing Oil Filter Part # (2 kinds) needed

Guys, this is not a question on what oil is to be used, what brand, what type, etc.... please don't bog this thread down with opinions on that... I've seen a lot of threads go down hill fast.

I'm simply looking for an oil filter part # for those of you who use Amsoil Oil Filters.

I went on Amsoil's site, and typed in our OEM motorcraft filter (FL820S) in the cross filter lookup, and it recommended EA011. But when I went into their same site, and did a car lookup, it gave me EA017. So which is it?

p.s. Can someone also tell me the part # for Ford Racing's oil filter? I'm still debating if it's worth paying the Amsoil cost for a filter (13 - 17 bucks).

That's because the FL-820S is not the correct filter for the car.

The recommended filter is the FL-500S.

Yeah, that's what I will go with. Does the filter LOOK like stock? I think the EA017 is taller/longer, right?

Thanks Lewis. Why do I have 820S in my head then? I swear I saw it on a thread here. What IS the difference between the two? I'm at work, so if I had the manual in front of me, I could just look it up.

the weird thing? I typed in FL500S in amsoil's site, and no equivalent for Amsoil oil filter... go figure.

http://www.amsoil.com/AmsoilLookups/...rCrossRef.aspx

btw, in case someboday was wondering, I am planning to use Amsoil 5W20 sig series... buying 2 cases. Enough for 3 oil changes at 8 qts a pop.

The 820S is a high capacity filter that I think can be used in place of the FL-500.

People have compared them side by side, and its physically larger but still mates with the oil filter connection on the motor.

I just got the recommended vehicle replacement from Amsoil when I ordered my oil and trans fluid.

Thank you. So you got Amsoil's EA017 too? How do you like it?

I haven't put it in yet, as I changed mine at 3K to Castrol Syntec, and haven't changed over to the Amsoil yet. I'm at 12k now.

It'll be just like any other oil and filter. You don't notice it unless there's a problem. It's just not a system that will notice any changes with different oils and filters.

thanks for the info guys... if no one noticed any difference, that's a good thing. That's how it's supposed to be. As long as it fits, I'm happy.

I will be adding EA017 to my 2 cases.

Do you have an Explorer? I believe thats the filter I use on my truck.

The Ford Racing filters have a higher flow rate which means they filter less and they are not good for 5 to 10 k mile street apps. IMO.

The Motorcraft FL500s, which is what's reccommended, isn't bad and is less than $5 @ AAP with online discount code.
