American Muscles new V6 project car goes 13.73

It is a automatic car with 2.73's and stock 17" tires running 87 octane gas.

Ran a 14.27 @ 100 stone stock, then ran the 13.73 @ 104 on their 87 octane performance tune.

Half a second gain on just a tune with stock tires. Crazy! I can foresee 12 second bolt-on V6's in the near future...a set of 3.73's, radials, intake/exhaust, and a 93 tune..it's going to be awesome!

Already been one that went 13.02 with a tune, cai, converter and 4.10's on street tires.

Better air and launch would have put that car solidly in the 12's.

The other thing that AM's car shows is that you don't need real low rear gears to get a good 1/4 mile time because they pull so hard on the top end.

I'm really curious to see what it will do with a 93 tune.

That's next on their testing schedule, 93 octane on the stock tune and then on their 93 octane custom tune.

The SCT?

They use SCT tuning software to make their tunes and a SCT X3 to load them onto the cars PCM.

So we may finally get the definitive answer on whether there's any advantage to using premium fuel in a V6.

I'm gonna bet that with a 93-octane-specific tune they will in fact get more out of the premium fuel.

But that doesn't mean a stock car / factory tune would do the same.

Agreed. An aftermarket tune will probably take advantage of the higher octane but I doubt there will be any difference with the stock tune.
