I know I'm kind of late but can I call that 800 number and give them my dealer number and order number and could they tell me the status of my order?

 

Does anyone really know if there were issues or was this just a QC hold, like the one with the new model 05's?

 

Yep. They can look it up right there for you. They're pretty nice, though the first rep gave me a weird VIN which turned out to be a Ford Fusion on VIN lookup. Turned out he must have typoed it, as the second time I called and did the dealer and order number the rep spazzed when she saw I was getting a 2011 Mustang.

Still in processing and no VIN yet, alas.

As for the hold, was more than likely a QC hold. They probably did some more thorough checks that slowed down the greenlight on the 5.0, since it's a completely new engine.

 

Thanks, I called them, they said it's going to be built May 3rd and I should have it by May 17th, they gave me my VIN and I looked it up and it was correct but I'm assuming since it's not built yet i can't see the window sticker. Now it's going to be the longest 3.5 week wait of my life. When the rep saw that I was getting the 2011 GT he was like **** thats going to be one hell of a car.

 

Hooray!! Now how long will it take them to unbury my GT. Was built 3/31 so I figure a while, hopefully I'll have it by the end of May. Then I can quit the complaining.

 

Hey guys I'm new here & I've been quietly watching & waiting to see what was up!

I'll post what exactly what I ordered in the appropriate spot.

My Gt was built on 4-8 was to be delivered 4-19 of course it never showed.

It's great to see that the GT's are being shipped FINALLY!Thank the CAR GODS I mean FORD!

Called my dealer this morning & he said the date has not changed.I don't think many dealers really care they figure when it comes in it comes in! I've learned more about my car by going online & calling the 800 #.Last I knew the car was at or on ramp 51 in Michigan (HUB?).Where that is I have no idea maybe one of the parkong lots.

I hope you guys are correct & I'll be able to pick it up very soon!

 

If they didn't ship for about a week, I figure that the date my dealer gave me will be pushed back a week.

I had an original ETA of 4/30, so if it gets bumped a week, it'll come in right when I'm in Mexico. Hopefully it comes either really early or late. I don't want ti sitting in a dealer's lot while I'm away.

 

Don't feel bad, Ford still tells me my ETA is 4/10. The rep said once its awaiting shipment it doesn't change.

 

Just make sure they aren't using it for test drives

 

That would be bad.

The salesman is a family friend, so I'm sure he'd look after it, but he did say mine will most likely be the first 11 at the dealer, and it being a 5.0 on top of that, he said everyone is waiting to have a look at it. I just hope that's what it amounts to, looking and not driving.

 

x 1 billion. I have never been excited for anything like now waiting for my 11 GT. I know it will be mid June (ordered 4/3) before I see it and drive it, but the wait will be worth it. I know I will have a s*** eating grin driving her off the lot for the first time. I can't wait.

 

This is my first time ordering a custom new car. And I'm kind of curious about this.

Would a dealer let someone else drive my car before I pick it up? If they would I'm going to call the managers over there and make sure no one does.

 

They shouldn't, but it never hurts to tell them. Your rep may not even think about it, and then some other rep might mistake it for stock.

 

I doubt you'd have to worry about that. You're going to have a few miles on it just driving from Ford to the railhead and other transfers. Mine had 7.1 miles so if someone at the Dealer did drive it, it wasn't much.

One thing you might want to insist on with your Dealer is to keep the lousy Dealer stickers OFF!

I also know some want to do their own unwrapping and skip the Dealer prep but I didn't choose that.
