All 2011 Mustangs on hold
I think the most annoying thing about all of this has been my sales rep. I originally tried to order a 2010 in December but they cancelled my order since the plant was already getting ready for the 2011s. Then we tried shopping around for 2011s but I wanted everything in it (including a glass roof). I surfed around with the Ford vehicle locater and saw that it was hard to find black, no racing stripe, V6 with a glass roof. I wanted it fully loaded but would consider doing the rest after market. Then I found out what he meant by after market. Then he proceeded to tell me how 'people don't order mustangs with x or y in them'. And I mentioned that that was amusing since the only thing I found hard to find was the roof.
Eventually I ordered a 2011, and he promised it would be done in April at the latest. I took that with a grain of salt but he used it as a selling point since I'd be sharing a car with my boyfriend till then. (My car was taken out by a tree in a storm.) He says nothing about possible delays, even runs my credit through all the banks way back in Feb... for whatever reason. He even lets me set up my insurance a few weeks ago. And, he even lets me sit down with the finance guy last week who finally is so pissed I'm more informed than him (and that I brought my father) he tells me 'bah, who knows when you'll get this car, it could be months, I never know. Call me sometime next week, maybe I'll work on the financing, I get so busy I forget about people'. ...What? Mind you this is After he hard pulled my credit once again, for a car that hasn't even touched ground.
And that's not even the half of it. So, I could care less about delays at the Ford plant. What irritates the crap out of me is how all of this has gone done as a whole.
I am not adding this to get pity, or flamed. This forum has given me more information to fight my dealer, and that is what has been actually helpful. My dealer has tried every bull **** move in the book, and from these forums and the internet I have had the papers with me to keep him quiet. Hell, he almost sent me on my way saying he would need a vin number and all this crap, when I handed him my window sticker. Then he proceeded to tell me he couldn't find it on the sheet. I asked him if he needed me to read it for him....
I mean Really.

I just checked the status on our 2011 Mustang orders, and our first one (a V6 coupe) has finally at long last been released from the plant! Still waiting on our first GT and GT500 to be built and released.

Really indeed! Once you've got your car, you should make sure to send details of your experience to Ford's Customer Service department, cc'ing the salesman, the sales manager, and the owner. It won't likely cause real change, but it should give the dealership a good measure of discomfort.
I'm actually mad this guy is getting money out of me. But what can I do? He's got my car!
Well, presumably you can still walk, dinosaurs need to die a slow painful death (figuratively - of course). The key would be to see if there is a car on order elsewhere that meets your needs, so you can get it in a timely manner. If you ask 05fordgt (Jeff), he should be able to tell you what's available in the area.

The best part is that they also tossed me between two sales reps. But the first one locked me into a decent deal in this area. (He was their truck rep, so I think he actually didn't know that 'people don't give x amount off of Mustangs in this aera'.) I live just outside of New York and when I took the numbers back to the first dealer I almost bought a car from (before I found out about the glass roof) he laughed and said he'd never go through with it. But they did. So I saved some cash and it's been a huge headache. The guy is also a dinosaur and doesn't use email that much so he has told me nothing about my car. I had to say that I Knew that other people were getting their VINs before he got off his behind and went to look at the paperwork and 'oh wow, you do have a vin! And it should be here in two weeks!'. /eyeroll

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ford /quotes/comstock/13*!f/quotes/nls/f (F 14.15, -0.05, -0.36%) is recalling about 33,000 vehicles to fix a problem with front seat recliners in certain 2010 models of Fusion, Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac and Mercury Milan and Mountaineer, the automaker said Friday. Some of the vehicles failed to meet the requirements of the federal motor vehicle safety standard. "In the event of a crash, the seatback and head restraint may move rearward, increasing the risk of injury," according to the recall notice posted on the Office of Defects Investigation's Web site.

Full recall details
Ford Motor Co. said it is recalling more than 33,000 vehicles, including its best-selling Fusion, because front seats and head rests may collapse back during a crash. The voluntary recall affects 2010 model-year vehicles including the Ford Explorer and Mercury Milan, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The affected seats manually recline and will be replaced by manual seats without the defect or power seats, Ford said in the notice. The automaker will notify owners by April 30 to bring vehicles to dealers for repairs free of charge.
This is what happend. The were on hold doing quality checks. PPL complained to much and they relased them with broken seats. They knew about it. If ppl only let the hold do its job.
its a conspiracy i tell you!!!!
