Ok guys, they are on hold. I know why, but I can't say. My mole may get killed by the Ford KGB. I'll give you a hint though: They are on hold for a reason.

OoOooooO!!!

The funniest part is watching the "insiders" argue with each other about what the problem is. They all sort of null each other out, lol.

I just keep calling and keep getting different answers. (Keep calling as in I have called 3 times.) My date just moved from 5/1 (stated on Tuesday), to 'between 5/1 and 5/8' stated today. The first delivery date I had was 4/17. The car has been built since the 15th.

I find the phone number much more informative, and my dealer is just annoyed with me even though I've talked to him maybe 4 times since I ordered the thing in January.

My major issue right now is that I jumped the gun and set up insurance for the thing and have had to move it twice. I was too excited.

Geronimo?

Way back when there was a guy from Ford that used to come onto our local Lightning club forum and talk about his Lightning and his name was Geronimo, think his last name was Gonzales.

Has to be the same guy, can't possibly be two guys named Geronimo working for Ford.

He was pretty cool, big time into his Lightning and doing mods to it.

Cars are coming folks, we just have to have patients!! ( I DONT HAVE ANY MYSELF)

So, apparently, they are starting to move out

I'd rather they be honest and say what the hold up is then just have the rep keep telling me "its on its way" when i know it isn't.
I don't understand what the huge rush is? They aren't even on the dealer's lots yet and a lot of people ordered prior to the production even starting. It has only been 'on hold' for what? Not even a week and you are getting uptight?

This is probably normal with every car that is built everywhere. Ford isn't purposely blowing smoke to 'cover up' this possible issue. A lot of people (Ford Reps, dealers, etc..) have no clue about any holds because this type of info is probably not shared unless its significant. We just happen to have a few insiders that are willing to share the info.

If waiting an extra week or two is too much to handle, then just go get a '10 model on the lot.

Good news for the people with no 'patients'

Maybe he should have some patience...

Ya know, just a thought.

Ford has millions of dollars in inventory-mustangts-sitting in the lots arounds AAI, literally collecting dust. Every day that they hold that inventory is lost money and profits and is probably costing them interest.

I am positive that Ford would like nothing better than to get all that unsold inventory out of those lots into dealers/customers' hands, and turn that unsold inventory into dollars and profits.

From an economic stand point, there is every reason in the world to get your cars to you sooner rather than later. Fortunately, some smart person in Ford decided that it was better to eat the loss and make 100% sure that these cars are going out in as perfect condition as they can make them.

I, for one, would rather have my car later and perfect, than sooner and subject to a recall.

However, this is just my opinion, worth exactly what you paid for it.

Okay, the delay is until first week of July.

Word is Ford want this to be available to RHD markets, too.

We're getting a small batch here in Australia (1800) and New Zealand (700). Europe is getting 8500 vehicles, Japan is getting 3000.

I think the idea is correct; it's unfair that Americans get this car before anyone else. Don't you all agree?

So whats wrong with wanting to know why my order is held up? I am paying them a lot of money aren't I? I'm not going to cancel my order, but a little info would help the wait a little. It like if you ordered something from Amazon.com, they said it was supposed to be there 3 weeks ago and now can't even tell you why it hasn't shipped. Same thing. It's Ford's fault for giving out ETA's that they knew they weren't going to meet. My original ETA was 4/4 - they knew that wasn't possible when they gave it to me. They knew there was no way QC checks would be done by then.

Nothing is wrong with it. You are the customer. Ford has very poor customer service from the sale through service, it's just something you deal with if you love Mustangs.

You aren't ordering a grill, a baseball glove, or a DVD Box set from Amazon. You are odering a $30k+ vehicle from Ford. Amazon doesn't build what they sell, they merely ship it. Ford has to build, ship, sell, and finance these vehicles.

Apples/Oranges.

It is nice that Ford can provide an ETA for their cars down to the day based on the systems we have today. But sometimes things happen when dealing with building such a complex machine.

I'd be happy to go back to a time where the dealer told us "Probably 4-6 weeks" and you just waited on the phone call. Giving dates like they do now only sets themselves up for customers that don't understand the complexity of the process to get upset.

Has everybody completely forgotten what ETA stands for? You people act like an ETA is something chiseled in stone.

I understand that, but how does any of that change the fact that they won't say why they aren't shipping it? If anything I expect MORE information because it is such a high dollar amount. They don't have to tell me the exact day it will arrrive, just why it isn't shipping. I understand the complexity of building a car just fine, just not why Ford doesn't inform its CUSTOMERS of what is going on.

Right. totally agree.

I had to wait 4 months/16 weeks however you want to look at it. When I was told 8 weeks.
Deal with it, as it's worth the wait...

In the future when they make RFID tracking technology throughout their factories this issue should be handled and customers will be able to know the status of production readily. At least the dealers should...
