Aiming headlights

I just got my 2014 Mustang back from bodyshop from a front end collision about 3 weeks ago.

I noticed tonight driving home that my headlights are whacked out.....I am seeing a dark edging in the middle and also that the aim is way to low.

How do I aim them....as in what is the correct formulation for the HIDs.....and can this be done myself (where do I find instructions for that) or should I take it into the local dealership and have them do it? (dealership I know will charge me arm and leg, but will be done back to factory specs)

Take it back to whoever did the bodywork because they should have fixed that for you too, right?

That's what I would try. Seems like that's definately something they should have at least checked since they were doing front end work

Personally id just park on a flat surface about 5 feet away from a wall and use a long flathead or phillips screwdriver to fix the aiming issue. Should be a blue thing beind the housing and thats the headlight adjuster. Or you could take it back to em so they can remove the front bumper again to properly hit that adjuster

It was the body shop's responsibility to aim the headlights properly. Whether you paid for it or your insurance company did, the shop did a sloppy job. Take it back to them and insist that they fix it. If your insurance company paid for it they will ensure the work was done properly and lean on the shop if necessary.

The dealer told me that it is common for HID's to spread flat out....I am not trying to be an expert here, but i have worked for a electrical design engineer before and not ever see HID's spread out flat in my life... now I could be wrong....car lense is different.....But I will do a check myself to see.....

So it got dark tonight i went out and found a wall....25 feet away and level surface to aim.....i measured to the top of the beam aperature 27-1/4".....I figure that the aperature is about 2-1/4" diameter. Now if there is specs on inflated tires to the center of the beam I would love to know. But I know that the dealership didn't do a **** thing to aim my headlights...nor did they charge me. The top of the line of my low beams were at least an inch off to 1-1/2" low.....I adjusted them back up and then backed them down a 1/4" heavy......Man it like it was brand new again....
