6R80 Manual shift control

I've been looking around at 2011 F150's and Ford has equipped them with the ability to be totally manually shifted. They can hold ANY gear for as long as you want and be shifted at the RPM you choose.

Below is a picture of the console mounted shifter from a FX2 F-150.

The shift pattern is P-R-N-D-M-2-1, the "M" being the manual control position, when in that position there are + and - buttons on the side of the shifter handle to control up and downshifting.

Now, why can't Ford do at least a shifter like this for the Mustang?

I love being able to shift when I want even without a clutch! I don't see why they can't do this for the refresh. it seems relatively simple. Would be sweet!

got this on my new 2011 f250 work truck....its not precise at all and really not something that is sports inspired at all. maybe if they refined it and made it so it actually felt quick and sporty it could work.

Just a matter of a little PCM programming, just like doing a tune for the lackluster shifting in the current automatic Mustangs.
