I need to buy some 5w-50 oil to do my oil change before winter and I was wondering if every walmart carry's it now or it still depends on the region? I found Castrol Edge at Napa for $5.69 a quart but I was reading on some older post that walmart carried mobil 1, is that still the case?

Track Pack Correct?
Remember the non Track Pack cars that have the same engines call for 5W-20 so unless you are really into road course racing 5W-50 is overkill and not necessary.

Ya it has the track pack. But shouldn't I run what ford recommends until the powertrain warranty is over?

I got the first oil changed done at the dealer last time but they only charged me $70 but I wasn't aware that my car took 5w50 full synthetic. Now that I am looking into changing my own oil before winter storage I am thinking the dealer put in 5w20 Synthetic Blend last time since the cost was so low.

What should an oil change cost with 5w50 full synthetic oil at the dealer?

Change your own...Dealer charges about $90-$110 for a 5w50 oil change

I know right?! I just paid my dealer that much to change mine

I only put ~8000 miles on my car per year because it hibernates for 5 winter months a year. I go to the dealer to get it changed to keep my "service history" clean, but I also do 4 or so road racing days per year.

My plan is to change my oil to Mobil 1 15W-50 in the spring, and go back to 5W-50 Motorcraft for the fall/winter. That way I get better protection for road racing, and the dealership sees the car once a year for service.

Why? You and I have the exact same motor. Why would you need to run 5W-50 and I 5W-20?

And FYI I run Amsoil 10W-30.

Same theory. Altho I do slightly more track days. But 5w50 is overkill for street driving. I like the service history too. Looks good for down the road when I sell my low mileage mustang
