So it seems if these knowledgeable folks are correct, 5.0 is only an option...

3.6 camaro will be much cheaper than the 4.6 and the SS should be around the same price as the 5.0

will Ford loose its edge for being the best bang for the buck?

I say no, because the 3.6 Camaro won't perform anywhere near the 4.6L GT, and the 5.0L (assuming near 400HP) optioned out will put up numbers very close to the SS, performance and price. The Camaros are ~300 lbs. heavier remember.

We don't even know how expensive the 54U is yet

oh yes i know, and thank god the camaro turned out to be an ugly fat***

but looking only at the numbers the mustang always had two advantages, the weight, and price. so the 2010 was going to take a little beating but we could always say, wait a year, and it will have close performance for less $. but if that price advantage is gone now,... well that would suck!

I'm lost, what's going on with this 54U stuff? Is this a 2010 or 2011 package/option? Confused, fill me in.

Please, lets not do this again....
If you all get my hopes up and this turns out to be rumor, I don't know if i can make it. Please show some credible information (leaks, insiders, something) that supports this. PLEASE!!!!

But on the other hand, how awesome would it be for it to be an option this year, then what could the camaros do, is it a 4.6 a 5.0 idk....they would just have to wait until they see tail lights to know for sure!

My emotions just keep getting toyed with!! First the 5.0 was confirmed for 2010, then it wasn't and I was heartbroken. Now that I've finally come to grips with it, this little rumor pops up!

I can't take it!!

54U is NOT in the 2010 order guide, but is listed in the "options screen" in CONCEPTS here at work. The last time we had a code like this, it was for the Shelby GT. Since there has been good reliable info on the 5.0, this is what I am assuming it is, just someone forgot to delete it from the system. No worries, I have it printed out, and saved a copy, lol!!!

Cool, maybe I'll try to avoid this tread, as to not fall into the temtations and rumors of hoping for a 5.0 early. But if it is anything like the Shelby GT, not gonna happen anyway.

If it was $2000 it would match the camaro SS price and would make the GT faster... in a straight line, who knows how the handling of the two will compare.
