5.0L = Red Coolant (Uh, oh)
However, apparently it DOES contain the same 2-EHA chemical that Dexcool does... which is known to eat hoses and gaskets.

Come to think of it, my friends 98 LS1 had a TSB for the water pump gaskets because they were paper. 99-02 motors were upgraded with metal gaskets from the factory. We replaced his & havent had a problem since. Aluminum motors also run at higher temps. Seems paper gaskets on motors these days are obsolete.
Given the hoses have the stainless braiding, maybe they are aftermarket, and the material used isn't compatible with the new coolant. If the OEM hoses looked like the ones in the photo, there would be TSB's all over the place.
do you honestly believe they are going to put something in that is going TO HARM YOUR MOTOR AND CAUSE FORD A HUGE PILE OF GRIEF??? Have faith, Ford is building outstanding cars...
I would love to see some of the engineers read this thread.....and see their response.

Exactly. Too much panic right now because people aren't getting their cars. It really is getting old.
With all the reliability and extended-run testing that's been done on the Coyote, I don't think this is going to be a problem.
Mixing Motorcraft Specialty Orange Engine Coolant or any orange-colored extended life product such as DEX-COOL brand with your factory filled coolant can result in degraded corrosion protection.

I just noticed that the new 5.0 comes with red coolant. Is it Dexcool?
I recall hearing before that the Dexcool is harder on your engine that the regular green coolant. Specifically, I have heard of water pump and head gasket failures related to its use. The last thing I want in a high compression engine is coolant that compromises the head gaskets.
If this stuff is indeed Dexcool, then I think my first order of business will be a complete coolant flush. Any thoughts?
