5.0 road course ****

I spent the holiday weekend in Fountain Colorado with NASA Rocky Mountain at PPIR. We ran the oval plus the infield, but in reverse. The car performed exceptionally well. In 95 degree heat I had no cooling issues and the brakes remained strong and fade free through two days of lapping.

The mustang turn out was great as well. It's usually pretty dismal.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of my car from the event. My brother took the photos using my XTi and a 70-300 tamron lense. These are straight out of the camera, no touch-ups. I thought they turned out pretty well.

Not an actual race, just an HPDE event. However, the car is formidable out on track. The only cars that were really a match for it was the E46 M3 a supercharged shelby GT and a highly modified e30 M3.

To say I was impressed with it's performance would be an understatement.

I don't have real world data as I never had my c6 on this track, but I do believe the 5.0 would outlap it on this track.

Hmmm...I think the Shelby GT would have looked awesome in white with GB stripes....

Jason and Ed (supercharged Shelby GT) were the class of the 1/2 field, kept catching up and lapping everyone else, so got few really clear laps, but were turning very good numbers overall, with good lines. Now time for some mods on that 5.0!

Sure looks like fun! Were you running the stock wheels, tires and brakes?

I'm taking my GT up to Mid Ohio on the 29th.

Yes, the car was 100% stock for this outing. Down to the paper filter.

The only thing I'm planning on changing for the next outing is a more aggressive brake pad, higher temp fluid and removing the brake dust shields.

I'm still debating on that. I've always run carbotech's on my previous tracked cars with good luck.

FYI, I run Carbo's XP10 in the front and XP8 in the rear on R-Compound tires with great success

Mont-Treblant looks fun, trees and everything, not so much dirt and prairie dogs.

How do you pronounce this?

Calabogie

like boogie at the end of Cali? Or bogey? Wacky name...

How you like your OMP helmet and gloves? Just got their seats in, and was maybe gonna go for an overall theme, but they're rather pricey, at least here in the US.

Looks awesome man! How long was the course overall? Was it mostly 3rd and 4th gear? What speeds did you reach on the straights?

+1 on the higher temp brake fluid. I took mine to Watkins Glen in 2009 and 2010 for 2.5 hours track time each day. In '09 I went with Hawk HPS brake pads all around, and their grip was fine. The problem was that the hard braking from about 130 mph on the back straight boiled the OEM-spec fluid, and at one point my pedal almost went to the floor! Not a great feeling... The next year I flushed the fluid and went with ATE Super Blue Racing DOT4. Huge difference! The brakes never faded at all with that stuff.

The track is 1.1 miles in length. About 130 mph at the end of the straight before turning in to the infield.

Mont-Tremblant & Calabogie (spelled like bogey) are Class A tracks ! The surface is perfect and the scenery is beautiful (if you have time to look at it )

I like the OMP helmet but it is 10 years old and quite pricey ! I will need to purchase a SA2010 for next year as it is the last year the SA2000 is accepted . I will probably buy a Bell this time around !

I like the Bell as well. I've seen some of the black matte/rubbertone ones, and while they look nice, the finish doesn't seem to hold up. Think I'll go gloss black again, though I may consider the Zeronine:
