Actually most of the inspiration came from an engine designed for formula 1 and was planned for back in 2000. This engine was not rushed into production. I was informed of an impending 5.0 to making a come back back in 2006. In fact I posted it hear. I had the ear of the VP of communication at the time through several happenstance meetings before the official release of the 07 gt500. Anywho the engines are designed and proofed way before the rest of the components are built. In other words they were able to "rush it to market" by only having to design the periferals needed to fit in this chassis and get it 50 state approved (including pesky California) in this chassis.

Respectfully,

Roger

Thanks for posting this. I was a little concerned about this engine being "rushed." I didn't want to run down pay high dollar for a 2011, and then have a rod come out the side of the engine!

My pleasure. The warranty claims would kill ford lol. Remember frpp is an emerging business model and Ford knows the aftermarket is a key to the mustang brands continued success. As a result they know they will be modified and use it in their marketing. They would not put out an engine with widespread issues intentionally due to the warranty cost and turning off the brand loyal. You have nothing to worry about. Thats almost like saying chevy designed the water pump above the opti-spark in the camaro motors to fail lol. Not to mention the fact that they were a b*&^%$ to fix because of their position high on the backside of the motor requiring the engine to be dropped. They were engineered for 100k miles but unfortunately the waterpump/seals were not. Just another reason I drive Fords although my daily is a g8 gt
