5.0 Direct-injected V8 -- Jaguar/Land Rover ?

Is the new corporate, rumored 'Stang 5.0 V8 going to Jaguar / Land Rover first?
From Autoweek --

New Jaguar XFR, XKR: These high-performance versions of the XF sedan and the XK coupe will be based around an all-new 5.0-liter, direct-injection gasoline V8, in naturally aspirated and supercharged variations. The cars will go on sale late in the year. The naturally aspirated V8 will be rated at 380 hp, and the supercharged version will make about 500 hp. Both will be equipped with ZF's latest seven-speed automatic transmission.

Facelifted Range Rover, Range Rover Sport: These models will get the new 5.0-liter V8s used in the Jaguars. Also, the Range Rover and the Range Rover Sport will get redesigned interiors with revised instrument panels, switchgear and interior trim.

2010
Facelifted Land Rover LR3: Just like the Range Rover, the LR3 will get a facelift and an interior revamping. The focus is on much higher interior quality, particularly the instrument panel and center console. We also expect the 380-hp 5.0 V8 to appear.

Maybe, but the displacement / power figures seem spot on what is rumored for the 'Stang. Would they really go thorugh the expense to develop two separate engine programs?

I think Ford was considering that option, as indicated by a question addressing a Jag-based motor on that leaked survey last fall, but what now that Jaguar is owned by Tata now, not Ford? Perhaps they'll still share some bits and pieces still? It would make some sense rather than Ford developing its own 5.0 with nearly identical specs and outputs and that AJ motor is a sweet piece.

Really, guys, Jag has it's own V8...

Jag's no longer part of Ford (Praise Be To God, Who Has Shed His Mercy Upon Us!) and the Ford brass has known for a long time that Jag was gonna be dumped onto somebody--anydamnedbody!!! No way will there be a common Ford-Jag 5.0 V8, although there may be a Ford 5.0 V8 based upon either the current modular 4.6 V8 or upon some V8 as yet to be put into production. Jag may enlarge their 4.2 V8 to 5.0, but they'll not offer a version of the Ford 5.0 V8 regardless of which approach Ford may take for their own 5.0 V8.

What God hath put asunder let no &&&&& reunite...Let Jag be the albatross around some other manufacturer's neck!

It will be really funny if fords 5L has 400 hp and the jag only had 380hp. But in reality I think the Ford engine will be around 350-360hp, which i will not complain about since I was more then happy driving a 260hp 1999 stang.

Without Jag we would not have had the Lincoln LS which IMHO is still Ford's best ever vehicle manfactured in North America.

Doesn't anyone remember the future Mustang survey Ford had about a year ago? On the list of possible engine choices was a 5.0L Jag derrived V8

Even though Tata bought Jaguar, Ford is still doing research and development for Jaguar to help Tata during the transition.

Boomer is succinct and, as usual, correct. Every scrap of info we have indicates that the Jag/LR DI 5.0 and the Ford piece are indeed different units with the Jag piece being AJ based and the Ford unit being a derivative of the Mod motor. I wouldn't be surprised if some, or even a majority, of the direct injection/engine management bits are common to both engines simply because it would make fiscal sense, but the blocks and heads will be two different units.

And for those hooked on the AJ unit, there is no need to lament.......given what we know of both engines Ford is likely getting the better end of this deal, potentially not by a small margin.

Along with a STANDARD 6-speed manual, make that 7-speed auto available for the Mustang please - it can only help improve mileage across the board...
