5.0 to debut at Detroit?

I went to the LA auto show today and asked the head of "Team Mustang" of when we will possibly see the 5.0s out for production. I had asked two other workers before but they said that "they couldnt discuss anything about the 2011." He actually told me as the 2010s are being released for sale, around the same time the 5.0 will debute at the Detroit Auto Show. Also found out it is still a 3500 option for a 420 hp supercharged option from direct from Ford, however, it will limit the warranty of the car to less than 36K/3year warranty, and the same goes for the 500 hp version except with less warranty coverage. Now this is what the guy told me it can be 100% right or 100% wrong.. Just thought I would share w/ you all the good news.

I'll tell you, they won't show the new 5.0 at Detroit and the very reason is, it will compromise sales of the 2010 GTs. And about the supercharger packages, Ford hasn't told us ANYTHING about what they cost, or how they are done. Nothing has been sent to us in regards to this topic. Take it with a grain of salt till Detroit. I still say, the GT500 will be shown, and you won't see the 5.0 till next year at L.A. at the earliest.

What if the 5.0 was in the GT500, and it did show up in Detroit? Then you would both be correct.
That would be so awesome.

It doesn't make sense that a 400hp 5.0L would show up in a car that already has a 500hp engine.

Who Says the 2010 GT-500 is gonna have the same 500 HP Motor as the 2009's? He didn't say it would be the 400 HP 5.0, I'm sure a Supercharged 5.0 would make Well in Excess of 500 HP. It would only make sense that if the GT's HP went up for 2010, why wouldn't the GT-500's? Here's to More HP!

why would they put the 5.0 in anything else but a mustang to start with?

it wont make sense in my opinion if they started it out in a different vehicle.

I have got to agree with this.
It wouldn’t make good business sense to discuss a future product that could hurt sales today.
I suspect that Ford probably won’t publicly discuss the 5.0 anytime during 2009.

A supercharged or turbo 5.0 in the GT500 would be sweet. The knock on the GT500 was the heavy 5.4 liter in it and a 5.0 would take care of that.

it would make business sense being the 5.0 was also rumored to be in the gt500 along with having a single or dual turbos. i believe it will be talked about soon.

Here's the point, Ford would NOT put a 5.0 in the Shelby unless it is a 350. Ford already has the 5.4 in the Shelby, and for sales and appearance sake they won't drop .4 of a liter. Now, ford WOULD be smart, and I have "heard" that a 6.0L or a 5.8L is a possibility, but look for 2011+ for those, for now, I'm pretty sure Ford will stay with the 5.4L GT500, and POTENTIALLY do a 400HP 5.0 in a GT350 or BOSS etc. I'm pretty sure the Boss is next in line, the Mach has recently been done, and with the major FAIL in the sales of the 2008 BULLITTs after having a 2001, I think Ford would be cautious to rerelease a special model Mach this soon after the 2003 model.

It doesn't make sense that a 400hp 5.0L would show up in a car that already has a 500hp engine.
^My point exactly!

As For:

No way will ford Turbo a V8, supercharging is pretty much the life-blood of Ford's V8s. A Turbo 4 again or 6 is what you will see.

Why? As long as it has more power and better mileage, who besides a complete idiot would care?

6.0 or a 5.8 is no longer a possibility for the mustang and i dont even know if they will do it for the trucks!!! you have to realize what kind of economy we are in! shelby can still make enough power getting rid of that 40ton motor and dropping to a TF5.0.

5.0 as we know is still on for the gt. there has not been any word yet as far as there being a boss model or a gt350. the machs last showing was 2004 not 2003, being there info for it being in 2010, the mach will be approaching 6yrs olds which means it hasnt been recently done like you say. sales have fallen cause of the economy and the situation alot of families are in, not because bullit has a 2001 model and now a 2008 model. you really need to pay attention to whats happening in the world as far as economy and people losing there jobs.

i think you need to do a little more research

exactly!!! if it gets the job done with gas mileage and power then what is the **** problem?

here is why displacement doesnt matter anymore.

in 1968 the gt500 had a 428 with 335hp
in 2005 the mustang gt kept its 281 with 300hp

35hp difference with a difference of 147 cubic inches.

i say the 2005 mustang gt definitely got the job done with the displacement it had!
