Hey bro,

Never liked mustang stick shifts, they're cheap and noisy. I have a 2011 gt with the 6 speed auto. That tranny is tight bro.

I really liked the 5r55 gears in the 2010 and thought I'd not like the 6 speed but it keeps growing on me. I don't regret getting an auto at all. I think it's going to be a good tranny. All the TSB's for the tranny seem to be worked out now by other model vehicles.

i also thought long about and ordered auto as i see a mustang also a a cruiser, for a corvette or porsche or ferrary i think stick is a must. also the 6 speed with mentioned short 1 gear, and leaving out gears i prefer less.

Pleeeease Ford add a Manual Mode to the Automatic (maybe as option).
This is state of the Art in 2010!
If The Auto would have such a Manual Mode I would take it, otherwise.. I don't know...

Could it be that the delays in the begining were mainly of that reason? Were they ever comunicated officially? I drove a china car in holiday in cuba, was said they are good when they are new:-) I saw the front wheel had no place enough when turning full touched the car - bad construction, they are learning from zero have no history.

I just received the Feb 2011 MM&FF and read the article Five OH Brian is talking about. The author of the article quotes Justin Burcham of JPC who says the MT82 is very similar to the T5 not able to take much more torque than the factory numbers.

And with the shifter that far back from the flange, I can see how it could get stuck in gear.

I have the MT82 and love it, but I don't do a lot of in-city driving. Unfortunately I may have to switch to an automatic at some point in the coming year. An old left knee issue (had arthroscopic surgery in '95) resurfaced this week and I went to the Ortho surgeon today. He said there isn't anything else to be done about it was it is being driven by progressive arthritis. So how much longer I'll have a clutch leg is a mystery...

So get an automatic GT coupe with 401A black/cashmere in Kona Blue with Brembos (preferably), CP, & EP. And then if you decide you'd rather have a PW 6MT 'vert, send me a PM.

I think the MT82 will prove to be the best transmission in a Mustang.

Which T-5 are you talking about? The one in the 1993 Cobra R? The one in the 1994 Cobra? The T-5 TR-3550 in the 1995 Cobra R?

I have had good results with the 1994 Cobra tranny. It's been raced since 1995. The case has never been broken (I have changed the fluid two times).

I was refering to the original T-5 as found in the '83 - early '85 cars. I'm sure that the T5 improved..it had to. The number of T5s I broke was staggering.

IMHO, the MT82 MAY be on the same level as the early T5 right now. It's new and with all new stuff, it is not debugged. I'm sure it will improve also. When that is done, I'm sure it will be an excellent trans.

Let's see how they hold up in the '12 Boss cars.

IMHO, right now it seems the best trans is the 6R80.

Drive it harder. Seriously, it seems to learn driving habits and does that is driven gently for a while.

I agree, there's a fuse to pull to reset the adaptive learning. I'll check a see if
I have the fuse number.
