401A Shift Knob - What kind of loctite on threads?
I'm installing a 401A Bullitt shift **** in my 400A GT. At the very tightest position the numbers aren't in proper alignment. I have to back off a tad which makes it just a little looser than I'd like. What color loctite would you recommend to hold it in place while still being able to remove it without too much difficulty? Thanks.

The shifter threads are 12mm x 1.25. However, with the 401A Bullitt shift **** it doesn't leave any exposed threads to use a jam nut. See the picture below.
The shift boot looks odd because my 401A boot hasn't arrived yet. It should be here Tuesday.

Today I received the 401A shift boot (Ford Part #: AR3Z-7277-B, list price $54). I took some pictures along the way in case anyone was curious.
Center compartment removed from car. 401A shift boot to the right still in a plastic bag.

Circled in red are the plastic tabs holding the shift boot in place

Old 400A shift boot removed, along with the cup holders. The cup holder is only held in place by four screws, removing it made it easier to get the boot out.

Thanks guys! I had to get the 402A Package but really wanted this shifter and now I can you guys rock!!

You may be out of luck here. Since that post, the part has been changed and now has a chrome plastic ring at the top that does not mate to any of the aftermarket adapters. You may be forced to use the Factory **** ($$$) to make it all work..
Uhh, what? The 400A shift boot has a plastic ring - but the 401A shift boot does not. Hence the reason I had to buy a 401A shift boot for my 400A car. If you want the 401A shift **** you need the 401A shift boot.
