3rd gear vibration while decelerating

2012 V6 / manual

I notice a vibration coming through the transmission when I am coasting/decelerating while in 3rd gear - it happens from around 2600rpms down to about 2200 before it goes away. I haven't noticed any issue in 2nd gear.

The vibration is similar to the vibration you get when the engine gets bogged down in too high of a gear, although at a bit higher frequency.

I haven't had any of the other big issues with this transmission that others have mentioned, but was wondering if this was unique and/or something I should be talking to the dealer about.

Thanks!

Common deal, Ford has acknowledged it and says it is a characteristic of the dual mass flywheel, so there is no fix by Ford.

If someday you upgrade the clutch then you can put a solid aluminum flywheel in and it shouldn't do it any more.

Thanks for the responses. A tab bit annoying, but glad it isn't a big deal.

Hey MiKona,

My name is Deysha with Ford Customer Service. If this gets any worse with time, please bring it in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis and do not hesitate to private message me with your dealer, mileage, contact info and VIN. This way I can escalate it for you to the Customer Service Manager in your area.
