3.7 to 5.0 swap?

I know it's crazy to talk about now but i wonder how hard it would be? The 3.7 and 5.0 are supposed to share common transmissions. Seems like all you would need is a different bellhousing adapter and of course the 5.0 engine harness and computer.

Crazy is right.

SOOOOOO much more to it than that.

They may share common transmission types, but not the same transmissions. Different bellhousing patterns, different torque capacities.

Then there are all the different accessory hookups.

You could do it but would only be remotely feasible if you had a complete donor car and swapped all the components over, engine, trans., accessories, wiring and all.

As previously stated, they are not the same transmission. Sell the V6 and buy a V8. Much cheaper.

Is there a crate 2011 5.0 yet? Might be cool in say a Mark VIII or Marauder!

There is but it's not available until "late summer" so FRPP's website says. Supposedly the new engines bolt right up to earlier transmissions and motor mounts too. I'm thinking about the other side of the equation, using the new transmissions with the older engines. Ford said that would be possible too.

I'ld like to see how the 5.0 runs on a 4.6 drivetrain, the '11 drivelines are heavily focused on fuel economy, the 5L in a '05-'10 would prob be faster even w the 5spd & one in a SN95 would be totally sick.

Also, would it be a lot of work to convert a 2011 Mustang coupe into a convertible? Or vice versa?

I could do it in 1 second with a Lifesaver hammer on a Glass Roof car.

Those would be roadsters instead of convertibles since they would not have a top that could be easily put up and down...
