Yeah it is!! When I spoke with the tech's Saturday one of them mentioned that 5.0 shortblock's may be on back order. Originally they were expecting a Tuesday arrival date, but it may not happen. I also decided to replace the clutch. I went with the Exedy clutch, and I also decided to upgrade the clutch line with a stainless braided line.

Thanks for chiming in Deysha. Actually the block made it in yesterday. We are just awaiting the new clutch I ordered(will be in tomorrow) and then they can proceed.

That would be what is left of #1 and #5 after 6300 miles. First oil change was about 3 months prior. Complete engine replaced, just put 1000 miles on it and running smooth. Still waiting for report from Ford on what caused it.

I figured i'd provide a quick update as I just received my Stang back earlier this week.
At any rate the motor is running great. I'm not sure if it was my mind playing games with me, or just having not driven her in a while but initially when I got the car back the whole car just felt loose, raw, unweildy and foreign. As time went on through the week she feels just like normal, if not a bit more powerful. The jury is still out on the latter as I haven't really pushed it as I was advised to break in the new motor for 500 miles. Any suggestions? I was just advised to take it easy and change the oil at 500. I hope I can add that many miles before the snow hits and she sits. Below are some positive and negative experiances i've had through this all.
Positive experiences:
(1)My dealer Van Bortel Ford. Initially I felt as I was not being communicated to very well after telling me the motor was done but not really providing many answers. A few phone calls and a trip over to them changed my mind. They communicated well. Staff was responsive and somewhat sympathetic to my problem. I spoke with the one and only mechanic working on my car quite extensively. The guy was well respected, a previous 5.0 owner, and layed everything out honestly. That is all I wanted. We also talked about modding, his experiance with #8 issues(though not related), and what he thought I should do. Cool guy.
On top of that, and most importantly Van Bortel worked out an paint issue that Ford service was not willing to. Thank you. Considering you sell more than just Ford, you gained a customer for life.

From the picture of the paint peeling you can see it is quite extensive. My car only has 24,000 miles on it. Ford said that it was from my feet. The location of the peeling and how it started though made me contest. Number one, I rarely run my feet across that area. Number two, it started as a white line, as though the door was constantly rubbing against something. I took this up with Deysha at Ford service and mentioned how my dealer was surpised they said No. She checked and told me that Ford found no defect and to go to my dealer to overturn if they had proof. I spoke with my dealer and they said they have tried to go through Ford before on things like this and they typically end up to no avail. They did however say that they would work something out. In the end they worked with me and covered a very large portion of the cost to have it repaired. Though this has never happened to me in the end I could be wrong. This may not of been defective paint or something from the door rubbing up against it, and the football cleats that I wear everyday to drive destroyed the paint. That sucked as the dealer was putting in the clutch and clutch line for free, as everthing was already torn apart and had to be put back together no matter what. After speaking with the dealer they had to keep working, so I was going to be out a little money for the install of the line if it took them a while. Was a little heated that AM had stated a date of delivery but had chose other shipping methods for the clutch line. They should indicate this... I would of told the dealer a different date. This all didn't matter though. During install the clutch line kept popping out after the tech installed it and was checking it. He said he played with it numerous times and everytime after the install it would pop out after pressing on the clutch a few different times...Anyone else have this issue? So the clutch line ended up never getting installed but costed me money...

Will be contacting AM for refund and hopefully compensation for the labor costs.

Woah!!! So happy that didn't happen. But you do have the peace of mind knowing you have a complete new motor swapped in!!

Man I am sorry you had to go through all of this. I am getting ready to bring mine in for some paint issues. You would think that Since Ford just re did the Mustang plant and out in the worlds most advanced paint system that none of these Paint issues would be going on. But it looks like the new paint system has made it worse.
I am glad you posted all of this. I am getting ready to purchase a few things for both of my Mustangs and AM keeps popping up on bad and missing shipments that is not good.

You would think that Since Ford just re did the Mustang plant and out in the worlds most advanced paint system that none of these Paint issues would be going on. But it looks like the new paint system has made it worse.

Glad to hear that Ford really did well, taking care of you. If I had my car pulled apart. I would definitely be replacing recommended things like clutch (if it had enough mileage on it) and looking in other areas where you could save on labor!

This may not of been defective paint or something from the door rubbing up against it, and the football cleats that I wear everyday to drive destroyed the paint. But i'm 32, have purchased three new cars as of yet, and will probably purchase more. Van bortel gained a customer, Ford lost one.
(2) I ordered a Exedy clutch, SR clutch line, and floor mats from American Muscle. They provided a delivery date with their free shipping(nice!!) and I had everything shipped directly to the dealer. I told the dealership when the items would arrive, so they started the warranty work to coincide with the expected delivery date. In the next day or two as expected everthing arrived except for the clutch line. That sucked as the dealer was putting in the clutch and clutch line for free, as everthing was already torn apart and had to be put back together no matter what. After speaking with the dealer they had to keep working, so I was going to be out a little money for the install of the line if it took them a while. Was a little heated that AM had stated a date of delivery but had chose other shipping methods for the clutch line. They should indicate this... I would of told the dealer a different date. This all didn't matter though. During install the clutch line kept popping out after the tech installed it and was checking it. He said he played with it numerous times and everytime after the install it would pop out after pressing on the clutch a few different times...Anyone else have this issue? So the clutch line ended up never getting installed but costed me money...


Will be contacting AM for refund and hopefully compensation for the labor costs....pics wont upload. Will try later..
Secondly, the items in bold I highlighted above. If you were "lurking" a while here, you would have know that the problem with that vendor is not that uncommon. So I'd say I'm not surprised. Sorry to hear that. Learn from it, and choose more wisely with your next vendor.
Great to hear you are being taken care of properly. Yes I basically felt the same way in regards to my door. It all started as a white line, as if something was rubbing and then grew from there. Happy it was taken care of, but disappointed that Ford Service said it was not their issue.
