20K miles and still driving like new. MPG findings
My 5.0 rolled over 20000 miles last weekend, it was a car affected by the engine tick at first, and also was built around the same time that the clutch issue cars seem to have been built.
Figured I would post a mileage update and report that everything about the car still feels new, and shes going stronger than ever. I'm confident that Ford has made a very solid and reliable Mustang for us.
I have every gas receipt since I received my car with 14 miles on it, and I used the statistics to get an avg MPG. All in all after 20800 miles I am getting an average of 18.86 MPG. Thats about 40% city and 60% highway driving.
My engine tick mostly went away around 8000 miles, and now it only shows up for about 2 days after each oil change. Its very strange, but it has not affected the cars performance at all. The transmission has been fine so far, I guess I was lucky to avoid the clutch issues so many others had. After driving through all the seasons, even heavy snow and salted roads, weathering underneath the car is minimal. The rear axle has a rusted color now, but thats to be expected. My Roush axle-backs however have rusted really bad around the back welds on the cans. Those may need some attention soon. (Put those on around 7000 miles). To date the only replacements Ive had to make were new tires, and new wipers.
I still love this car more and more every day

Mine was delivered July 19th, and I'll hit 13,000 miles this weekend. Still going strong... minus the hiccups I had as I added aftermarket parts. I've done a bit more highway driving, so I'd suspect my total MPG is a bit higher than yours... probably a solid 20. (But that includes 3.15 gears up to 10,500mi)
