its hard to get the epa's posted mpg in a sports car.. You have to drive it like the gas pedal is made of glass.

I have a 2014 GT 320miles on it and my best mpg so far has been 13. I'm usually around 12mpg. I am already getting worried about the gas myself.

I'm surprised at how low some of the reported mileage is... I've been doing ~16mpg with my V8 Grand Cherokee commuting, and I live on a ~900' high hill (and commute to about sea level). Not ideal for mileage... I'll be shocked if my 4600+ lb SUV does better than the Mustang when I get it.

What octane do you use and how much do you normally spend per gallon?

They recommend Premium, but the car will run fine on regular. You just lose some power due to the PCM retarding timing on lower octane fuel. I was used to running Premium on my Evo, so I continue to run it in my new mustang.

I always use 91 Octane, I don't remember what cost premium is going for, but figure the Avg. price as most gas stations.

3.73 gears don't help.

Look at your owners manual, it says recommended fuel is 87 octane for both V6 and GT.

From the 2014 owners manual
Octane Recommendations
• 3.7L V6 engine
Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is
recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as Regular with an
octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Do not use
fuels with octane
posted on pump below 87.
• 5.0L V8 engine
Regular unleaded gasoline with a pump (R+M)/2 octane rating of 87 is
recommended. Some stations offer fuels posted as “Regular” with an
octane rating below 87, particularly in high altitude areas. Fuels with
octane levels below 87 are not recommended. Do not use fuels with
octane posted on pump below 87.
Premium fuel will provide improved performance and is recommended
for severe duty usage, such as trailer tow.

the low mpgs were 100% city driving and the high ones were mixed driving. The 10k miles pic was down hill on a freeway driving slow to get the 10k mile pic.

Yeah man, but look at the Mustang brochure or anything related to the performance figures of our cars. If you want the 420 hp and 390 lb/ft, premium is recommended. After all, who buys the 5.0 and doesn't want the hp it's capable of?

You'll rarely use all that horsepower. I suggest buying the cheapest grade you can use.

Yeah, but by that kind of logic, why even have a 5.0 then?
