I was sort of miffed when I heard about that package.I always thought it was more than a bit over the top . PLEASE R.I.P. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the 67/68 Bodied Eleanor Mustangs are my favorite variations ever. Such a beautiful looking machine. The look doesn't translate to well to newer models but I don't see why the distaste for Eleanor to be honest. I wouldn't say the look has been overdone either. If anything the blacked out (murdered) look on so many cars today is my biggest gripe.

 

It was actually a foose design (I think) using Shelby parts and Shelby gave the ok to use the gt500 name. I wish it would do away though, they are ugly and tired of hearing people say its the best car they have seen. Plus most people I hear talk about it call it a gt500, so they don't know what they are talking about.

 

Okay somebody take the dead horse away so they can stop beating it...


I understand what they're going for however...everybody recognizes Eleanor...it's a popularity things that branches out to those that don't know or love mustangs like all of us do...I know it's crazy to think but some people don't know the cars and their heritage like we do...Ford knows that the Eleanor kit is popular to those that don't necessarily like or know mustangs that well and it will appeal to a further crowd...they know that we won't stop loving mustangs because of it so what the hell right?

 

OK, from the other thread, this is the description of the "Eleanor" package. Note, the only time "Eleanor" is mentioned is with regards the grille, the assumption being it'll have the close mounted fogs..............but then that was an early GT500 styling cue, anyway.

Nothing else really shouts "Eleanor".......no revised front/rear facias, no side skirts encorporating side pipes etc.

I don't really think this will look like an Eleanor at all (besides the fact Eleanor is a yellow Mach1 )

Agree...this is a trim package with one of the pieces having Eleanor in its name. And given all the engineering work going on now with the new car, I'd think Ford would be hard pressed to do much more.

 

I think they need a grille with a single center mounted foglight, and we could call it Cyclops - or Tucker.
