2013 Ordered/Built/Delivered Thread
I am so jealous of you guys that have received your cars in 2-3 months. I placed my order on 8/16 for a GT with Brembos/Recaros and was told 11/16 estimated delivery. Yesterday my dealer said my car is scheduled to be built 1/7/13!!! Is this because of the shutdown of the plant or laziness/dishonesty on the part of my dealer?

Yeah I think my dealer misled me on how much allocation power they had. The salesman has been super vague and claimed to have no idea of why it was taking so long. 5 months is just ridiculous. I could see it being the case if I ordered a Shelby or Boss, but its just a GT
"Dear XXXX,
Good afternoon. Your 2013 Ford Mustang is scheduled to be built starting on January 7th 2013. We can't figure way it is taking so long. Generally they are built with-in 90 days. It is a clean scheduled order.
I will keep you posted on any further progress.
Thank you very much,

Sorry, mine took exactly 6 weeks, which is the quickest ever for me. A lot depends on your dealer, their allocation and the priority they assigned to your order. My order's priority was 10, which is the highest priority, with exception to priority 1-9. However, priority 1-9 is used only in very special circumstances, like say your originally ordered vehicle got destroyed during shipment, so they'd want the replacement built ASAP. January will be here before you know it!

I ordered the same day as you and ive had my car for over a month now.
It's no theory, just fact. The priority is only to prioritize the orders from a given dealer. Without allocation, the order will not get scheduled.
If I cancel my order and start over with another dealer (assuming I can find one with allocations this late in the year), it will likely take just as long to get my car. One thing I've noticed, there are simply no 2013 Mustangs on the lots around here, none. There was a blue Boss 302 on a neighboring dealership for about three days, but it was gone in a hurry. I guess I'll just sit and wait, I don't see any other option.
GT_S197,
If you have the order number and dealer code or the full VIN you can call Ford Customer Service and they can confirm the build date of your car. If your car has not been assigned a VIN by now, it's not going to happen. The order banks closed Oct 31.
FCS - 800-392-3673 option 1, 4, 6
If you have the VIN you can look at you Window Sticker on-line about 1 to 2 weeks before the build week.

GT_S197,
A big downside to a Jan 7 build date of a Mustang GT is that the 2014 Mustangs go into production on Jan 14. So you will be getting a 1 year old model when you receive it and chances are, there will be 2014 Mustangs on the same truck that delivers your 2013.
I hope your getting a good deal on your 2013.
You should consider ordering a 2014 ASAP or find a 2013 that meets your specs on a dealers lot. Ford Customer Service can help you locate a car on a dealers lot.

There are no other cars which match the one I want in the state of Oregon. The only two options I wanted were Brembos and Recaros. I don't really want to wait around for a 2014, but I didn't really get a great deal on the 2013, just the typical $1500 incentives.
I'll be sending an email to Ford and filing a complaint with the BBB. The dishonesty and vagueness from the dealer is just plain bad business practice. If they would have just been honest and gave me a more realistic wait time. I should have known when they lowballed my trade in by 5k. It seems like a fair amount of people are getting the runaround when buying these cars?
They never gave me a VIN or window sticker because they never had allocations, or if they did, they did not use it for my order. I just feel like I got duped into waiting around.

You should follow the advice of Snoopy above and contact Ford Customer Service via PM. As you know from my signature, I just took delivery of my new 2013 GHIG GT a couple days ago. I purchased mine at X-plan, which saved me over $2500, plus I received $2750 in Ford incentives ($2000 rebate on GTs here in So. FL, plus $750 Private Cash). You can always become a member of Mustang Club of America like me, which entitles you to X-Plan pricing..just FYI.

Yeah I have been corresponding with Deysha via PM. She has been exponentially more helpful than my salesman with getting information. She sent me my VIN number today, so that is a plus! I think I am just going to stick it out and wait another month and a half. Ultimately, I think the dealership screwed themselves the most by causing the long wait; I locked in a value for my trade in whose blue book value keeps decreasing and will be much lower when January rolls around. How much does joining MCA cost? Thanks guys!
