So I am going to pose this to you 2013'ers while you wait to help me with my decision!

I am between a '13 with 3.73 and recaro (probably costing 32,000 sticker) and a 2012 from a dealer lot at a HUGE discount (mainly from the 3k rebate).

I have found a black 2012 GT 6mt with 3.31 for 25,300 (27,460 out the door!) This car is 80 miles away, was built in august and has 46 miles on it.

I do kind of want 3.73 and found the exact same as above (but its 280 miles away) for 28,267 OTD. This car was build in december and only has 20 miles on it.

These is also one more car like the above (3.31) that is 170 miles away.

These are the ONLY 3 cars (within about 700 miles) that fit my wants (so time is ticking if I want a 2012!).

My other option is to wait for the 2013... Those who are ordering...are you doing so at or below invoice? Even in doing so I am guessing the 32,000 sticker on the 2013 would come out to about 31,000 OTD as I dont think there are going to be any rebates initially (aside from the 750 brochure, if that even works on the '13?)

So... Its
A. 2012 3.31 for 27,460
B. 2012 3.73 for 28,260
C. 2013 with Sync, Leather steering wheel, new tails/hood/wheels, HID's and recaro's for roughly 31,000.

That 3k-3500 dollar difference comes out to about 55-60 bucks a month.

If I decide the 2015 is worth getting, having the 2012 would make it financially easier to upgrade to (lower cost and because of the discount would not lose as much trying to resell compared to its sticker). BUT...I may have a harder time selling a 2012 than I would a 2013 so not sure how much of a factor that will play.

Sorry for the thread jack but I figure with all the '13 guys and a couple '12 guys this is a good place to get opinions!

Depends on if you want to have the latest and greatest? That was my deciding factor. I can get about 5k off a 12 gt and about 4K of a 12 Shelby with X-plan and incentives. I am sure I can talk them down way lower. I just want the latest and greatest, so I am going to have to pay for it I think the 13's have some great features and Recaros are really nice. To me I know how I am and I would have wished for a 13, I even wanted one when I had my 12. I would pay more and get the newer Shelby, but that's just me, I always have to have the newest and best. I know... its a downfall of mine.

Just ask yourself:
can you live with a 12?
Which do you find more visually appealing?
Are you going to get it then see a 13 and wish you had waited?
Can you wait some time to mod it? (considering some parts probably wont be avail yet)
Do you care for the extra features?

Well I do think the base 2012 interior looks CHEAP. I am coming from an SVT focus (econobox with a good drivetrain/reasonable interior) so its not like im coming from german-car-interior. The Sync is nice, but not a deal killer. The leather wrapped wheel is nice but I can solve that with one of those aftermarket leather kits. The HID's are nice but I can do a drop in kit for about 200ish. I would plan on the HID /steering wheel wrap so thats $300 out of pocket to get to '13 spec.

The optional recaros are AMAZING (I am a sucker for racing seats) and @ 500 its a deal. I also do like the new styling (hood/wheels/tails) so it is a Plus in my book.

The only thing im worried about is NOT being able to order a 2013 at invoice... I am not sure if my local dealers will do that or not thinking the '13s will sell themselves? What is the easiest method to get xplan these days if need be?

I just wish the price guide was out for the '13 so I could know EXACTLY how much more money it is for the '13 and not just a ballpark.

Hey bud, if getting the car for invoice is the major factor, just sign up for Mustang Club of America, and this will entitle you to X-Plan. While the price isn't invoice, its about $130 over invoice and its easy and everyone is happy. I sell X-Plan all the time with Merck pharmacudicals about 10 minutes away. Its an easy sale and you get a great deal.

Ok, Thanks! did not know that was an option! So since you seem to be in the KNOW (which we all appreciate!) in your opinion what would I be looking at to buy a 2013 black 6mt base model GT with cloth recaro's (which we KNOW are 500?) and 3.73 (400?) with x plan pricing? Lets assume the 600 dollar increase the canadians saw is what we will see too. So this puts us at a window sticker of ~$32,000. I can calculate the T/T/L myself.

Do you know if the 750 brochure discount will work on the 2013's? Is it only if its delivered by the April brochure rebate ending date? (what If I pay for the car now, can I use the brochure now?)

I am a semi-recent college grad (06/09), 500 discount and I am also a first time buyer (500, if I use ford credit). As far as I know though, those discounts are not stackable, correct? (ie...pick ONE).

I just want to be able to see on paper a good idea of what the '13 will cost. Seems like its going to be in the 3k region but if its closer to 2k it would be worth it, closer to 4k and probably not!

**Edit**
I just tried using a fake pin on the X plan website and it shows (at least for 2012) a V6 Premium, costing 31,xxx would save about 1800 off MSRP. That is pretty close to what I expect my possible '13 build to cost, so if its apples to apples my 32,000 sticker would cost me 30,200- any rebates (maybe ford will be nice and give us good financing or at least 500?) plus hopefully another 500-750 for brochure/college grad or first time buyer. Just to be conservative say with discounts im looking at 30k even. @8% sales tax +title/license im probably in the ballpark of $32,500 out the door

That compared to 28,000 for a 3.73 2012 makes for a 4,500 difference (about 75 bucks a month). THAT is a tough pill to swallow!

Roost,

With an X-plan you cannot combine offers, aside from the incentives on the x-plan website. I also have the $500 college and $750 brochures sitting on my desk hehe. Where do you live? I called a few dealers when I was gauging who will work with me on a Shelby and a few told me they can give me a 13 GT for well below X-plan pricing. So if you find some smaller (read: hungry) dealers, they may work out a better deal. Just look for them and keep in mind patience and homework pay off. The bigger dealers will usually laugh in your face (like they did mine). Also keep in mind, ford most likely won't offer as many incentives on the 2013's off the bat, so you will not see as severe a discount when you compare a similarly spec'd 2012 to a 2013.

I sat in a Shelby with recaros and oh my those things are comfy (im 6'1", 200lb and 36" waist). All my next mustangs will have them. Unless its for my wife, she's too short and the seat belt openings hit her in the back of the head.

Well I did some math based on assumptions. We know the canadian base price went up 600. We know the recaros are 500 and the 3.73 to be about 400. Adding those to a 2012 base GT gets me to 32,000. Using an estimated x plan discount of 1800 (based on what a similarly priced 2012 xplans at) that puts me at 30,200. After tax/title/license I would be looking at ~$32,500 for a 3.73 recaro base model 6mt 2013 since I cant use any other rebates

So its looking like:
2012 with 3.73 for 27,250 OTD
2012 with 3.31 for 26,750 OTD
2013 with recaros, 3.73's and the other included '13 upgrades for ~32,000 OTD.

Cinque you have a pm!

If there's anything I can contribute, its this.... Don't settle. If you really want an option or car, but don't have the $$$ for it, save up. Don't get something that you settled for and will regret later.

I'm gonna have to agree with this ^. If you settle now, you'll most likely end up spending just as much $ on it anyway..

I can contest to this. I wanted HID's but settled, and figured "nahhh I can add them later"
Turns out adding HID's after the fact was going to cost around $2000 vs a few hundred upfront.

I keep going back and forth with the decision. Now I know racing seats are out as aftermarket = no air bag, and to buy the OE recaros is probably a 2,000 dollar bill.

The difference comes out to 95 bucks a month which by itself is justifyable (I could just cut down on the frivolous stuff to counter the 95 bucks) but the big picture shows the price difference is ~465/month for 2012 and ~560 for 2013. I pay 470 a month for my MORTGAGE PAYMENT lol. Those numbers are not factoring in any down payment which I have at least one, potentially two cars I will be selling to get down payment money.

I COULD afford that extra 100/month but I could also be saving that $$ for a rainy day/retirement... hmmmm That pricing guide needs to come out ASAP!!!

Are you guys talking about fitting OE HID's I assume? I know that was the same case with the SVT focus...it was a 950 dollar option from the factory but to piece together the kit from ford ended up costing like 1700 or something crazy. The kits im talking about are aftermarket (non-oe) drop in kits that come with plug and play ballasts and bulbs. I dont know any mustang users that have them but two friends put them in their trucks with great results.

Yes... I was in the same boat as you... I pondered getting the hids or not and ended up getting them. I am glad I did.

To ROOST, you seem to have every option/choice calculated out.... So it sounds like you know what you can and cannot afford. Given that, everyones finances, desires, and situation is different. So only YOU can decide which to get. But like i said, don't settle. If anything do a kepner tregoe analysis if you so choose.

Good luck.

Hey r00st, i think you may have misread the Canadian price guide. Cloth Recaros are NOT available on GT models. It's leather only and they are $1000. Don't know if the American price guide will be different but this is all we have to go on right now. Get the leather. Sat in a'12 GT-500 today with them and man they were sweet!

there is virtually no difference between the V6 Base and V6 Premium in the Canadian Order Guide if you don't plan to add more packages?

American V6 Premium comes standard with the LCD screen and Leather seats, Canadian V6 Premium comes standard like a V6 Base, probably costs more too! this is stupid.

they seem to be "presenting" the SG with brick red leather seats as an option on this 5.0 ... but they will not be offering this as an options with the SG color??? i was actually thinking about ordering this color combo...

Hey, has anyone tried the Performance Package on the V6? Is it really worth it, or should I stick with just the 3.31 gear ratio upgrade?

I thought in another thread (maybe it was this one?) that someone posted the canadian price guide, and compared to the 2012 price guide the GT base was 600 dollars more for the 2013?
