You're right the yellow blaze was hideous in that show. But I'm feeling this green a lot more than when I saw Yellow Blaze. So far I am very impressed with how the colors turned out on the 2013.

Question

The colors may be good for 2013 model year Mustangs, but I want more. I would like to get a competition orange GT500, but will have to settle for my second choice of Race Red. How can Ford not offer competition orange or Bronze for 2013 ? How many sales does Ford lose because of unavailable colors ? When buyers want a certain color and it is not available, they walk.

That plus how many sales do they lose because of the lack of attention grabbing colors like bright orange and bright yellow?

The majority of car buyers may not be into those colors, but when one passes by on the streets or even when it just sits on a dealer lot EVERYBODY notices it. You can't get better free publicity than that.

GM is a lot smarter in that regard and the sales statistics prove it.

Very surprised to see this '13 V6 Convertible at the Hampton Roads Auto Show this weekend. Didn't notice any scratching on the gloss black between the tail lights.

It did seem like the SN95 mustangs had a lot more color options. I am not exactly sure what they are thinking when making that decision but we have no control over it. I would love to see jade green again but Ford has been insanely stingy with green since the Bullitt. I'm sorry but legend lime isn't a good color, opinion and fact. But to each their own.

Just because you notice it doesn't mean you buy it - when people buy cars, they're buying white, silver, tan/gold, etc. Ford still having bright reds, blues, greens, yellows, etc. is pretty rare. That said, I'm jealous of the awesome yellow Chevy uses for the Camaro/Corvette. Ford used to have that with Chrome Yellow but not anymore!

And yet another comment about the new rear treatment...I don't like how the faux gas cap now really looks faux...what I mean by that is the 2010-2012 had that mettalic look on the faux gas cap and on the sides of it, so it looked real-ish. But the 2013 has that piano-black surface on the sides of it, so it now looks fake, almost stick-on. Too bad.

Now looks more like a badge than a gas cap. Probably was kinda the point of doing it.

I knew I was going to stir something with that comment. It was intentional. Yes it is only my opinion. Thus the reason there are more than one mustang with that color that have sold.

I agree that I don't like the gas cap treatment but as it's been said it is more like an emblem now which is ok.

Correct, otherwise everybody in the world would drive a yellow Mustang.

But that wasn't my point. Being seen is an important part of the marketing mix that subconsciously influences people when they buy certain products.

Lots full of Camaros, yellow Camaros on the road and Camaros on TV for example in Hawaii 5.0 do create more awareness then half empty Ford lots with only a hand full of grey and black Mustangs.

Ericc B - I completely agree with you about eye-popping colors. My Ford dealer very smartly parks ONLY birght color GTs, Boss's, and GT500s outside, at aggressive angles, right in front of the walk-way entrance to the showroom doors, so everyone HAS to see these hot Mustangs lined up, like a red-carpet or something. And whether the customer is shopping for a Mustang, a Fusion, an Edge, whatever, they ALL stop and look at these hot Mustangs lined up. And they are all in the BRIGHT colors - Race Red, Grabber Blue, Competition Orange, etc. It works.

You're lucky! most of the dealers in socal I have looked at onine have black and white shelbys with the occasional red peppered in. It's going to be that much harder finding a grabber blue. I am not opposed to buying out of state
