2013 Mustang to get GT500 styling cues, increase in horsepower
Since when did Mustangs Daily become the Bible of all things Mustang...If you look at all their stories they are always a day or two later then anything posted on THE MUSTANG SOURCE... seriously check the post dates and I'll show you a post on here that trumped it...They troll and then post "exclusive info" ...Take them with a grain of salt.

Im betting there will be a DI-version of the 5.0 down the road. Probably not in the 13MY but maybe in the new 15MY, who knows.
In the article in the thread posted by MRGTX, (sorry i cant quote here, I'm on a mobile version), it says several times throughout that it was designed to take DI in the future and Mike Harrison, one of the leads on the Coyote project is even quoted saying it was designed to take DI as well as it was packaged with DI injectors.
Although it is still very possible that DI will never come to the 5.0, we will just have to wait crossing the fingers and see.

Now 2015? Definite possibility. But I haven't heard a thing about 5.0 changes for 2013. If anything, the 5.0 was underrated at 412 and they're just re-rating it at 425 (which is closer to what it actually makes). Cheapest way to make more power two or three years down the road is to underrate your current engine. Chevy did the same thing in 2011 with the V6 they shoved into the Camaro.
Motor Trend has posted some pictures of a new looking Mustang
Update - I see Topnotch placed these pictures and the story on the 2015 - Next Generation Chat...BUT...Based on recent stories about the 2013 taking styling cues from the GT500, I'm thinking that these pictures represent the 2013 more than it does the 2015. In my humble opinion, the 2015 will not look anything like our 2010 - 2014 version. The car is going global and Ford will have to shape the car to be accepted by much younger people and Europeans and Asians.

There's a lot of assuming going on as to the theoretical fuel economy and performance benefits of direct injection, but only Ford knows what their DI 5.0L is capable of. The fact they decided to release both the Coyote and 747 Boss devoid of DI, even in the first generation engines, tells me all I need to know... for now. Perhaps the added expense of direct injection in addition to the comparatively costly, possibly problematic, high-pressure fuel systems and cylinder head carbon build-up isn't worth the slight gains in fuel economy and output on such a low volume vehicle? I don't know.
Remember, in addition to the updated CAFE requirements, there are new LEV III and Tier 3 emissions requirements in the pipeline, too, and the current crop of DI engines don't meet the criteria for PM. Diesel-like particulate filters, here we come! But, wait, won't that adversely affect fuel economy...?

You're right, the spanking isn't quite as severe with the "regular" GT, but the difference in horsepower between the Boss and Camaro (18 horses) is pretty close to the difference in horsepower between the Camaro and "regular" GT (14 horsepower). The Boss has less torque, too.

I am certainly liking what I am hearing about the 2013 Mustang. I so want to get a GT500 but could not accept the current horsepower offering. 600 plus horsepower would certainly persuade me to place an order for a 2013 GT500.
As far as a DI 5.0 appearing before the 2015 Mustang, I just do not see that happening. I would think Ford would wait untill the 2015 Mustang is ready and the offer it .

Its nice to see the Brits giving love to our Mustang...I wish Top Gear (British version) would redo a story on our new GT and Boss...last time they did a story on the Mustang, needless to say, they were pretty negative about it. They did like the Roush version though.
If the rumors are true, I will be trading my 10 in for a 13 either silver or grey 5.0. I love black but it is a pain to keep up. I hope the glass roof option is still in effect for the next model year.
Thanks for that tidbit Paul! Been boycotting Top Gear until they put some version of a '10+ on there lol
