The MT-82 6-speed does not have a traditional tail housing like a normal rwd trans. It has a swing arm setup that is "floating". The only thing that keeps it from moving around(which the factory one does a poor job I might add) is a "rear mount/ or rear bracket". Barton and MGW both come with their own versions of this bracket that keeps the shifter from "floating" or moving from side to side. Without the bracket with the shifter tilts from side to side, you'll hit gate walls or miss shifts entirely. It's a really poor system unfortunately but the guys at Barton and MGW both did a good job at making systems that help with that. I would post a picture of the stock system and the trans with the aftermarket system installed but alas, I'm new to this forum and I'm not as computer savvy as some of the other guys. I'm sure someone can help with the visuals. That's it in a nutshell though.

Yes thank you sir.
Dineau, the top trans is the MT-82 Transmission. As you can tell it does not have a tail casing. I don't know the bottom transmission off the top of my head but with the MT-82 design, you can see the bracket(has two holes for bolts on the very back of the shifter. That's what bolts to the car. The rest is "floating" for lack of a better term. So the shifter will spin or tilt about 20-30 degrees from side to side some say. The MGW and Barton kits replace that bracket along with other parts(Barton the bracket and upper shifter, the MGW the whole assembly).

Yes it does, at firstI thought youwere talking about a transmisson support brcket, but now I see you were reffering to the shifter bracket.
In my case I just updated the bushing inside the OEM backet with an Energy bushing. it's much stiffer but not as solide s the Barton or MGW.
With a very stiff bracket like MGW or Barton there should be a lot of tension or twisting force between the shifter and transmission as it doesn't allow much movement and since it's attanched firmlly to the body and when the engine/transmission moves at high revs ?

But as far as the people who ordered the MGW or Barton kits, they are nothing but happy with them.

Well I should be making the order in the next week or so. I'm told after you put in the order it takes 6-8 weeks to get the car which is no biggie. But I'll PM you the info on it when it's ordered. Spending that kind of coin I'd like to keep track of it. Thanks a bunch for doing all that. You guys are awesome.
