2013 Cluster Lights Flashing

Recently put a 2013 Cluster in my 2012 Mustang.

I notice that when I open the door the entire cluster FLASHES before the halo lights illuminate. Does it do this in 2013 Mustangs too? Or is something in my 2012 making it do this??

Here is example of me opening door.

I found several unexplained things that happened when I exchanged the cluster of my 2005 Ford F150 STX with that of a FX. The FX model cluster had a tach; my STX cluster did not. When I swapped them out, the dome lights did not work anymore; the door open chime no longer worked; the information center displays were gone.

No telling what small changes were made in the cluster between years. Many of the guage functions are fed via the ECU now.

What did you gain with the 2012 to 2013 cluster swap?

Nicer overlay and the cool LCD display in the middle .... No .. track apps does not work .. seems the Accelerometer is in the 2013 PCM.

Dan, I just went to my garage and opened the door, and my 2013 does the same FLASH. I never noticed that before. I guess it's normal.

UPDATE: When I took my phone to record it on video it wasn't happening. I was sitting in the seat this time and just opened the door like before. ..strange

LOL .. yes .. I did same thing. I went to record it the first time and it didn't happen. I then locked and unlocked the doors .. let the retained power go away .. and it happened again.

It also flashes if I reach into my window without opening the door and POP the Trunk from the console.

That sounds like a motion detector for the alarm system, but I doubt it's set if your reaching through an open window.

Too bad the trac apps is not working. Does it at least light up with any display?

While the needle type guages are not the most accurate for severe reliable indications, I prefer them over digital readouts; you get used to the needle position of a guage when "all is well". With digital readouts, you sometimes have to think for a brief moment if the readout is good/within specs. Nit picky for sure.

Maybe someone will come out with a way to get the trac apps to work on the earlier Mustangs.
