2013 California Special Wheel Weights

Does anyone know what the stock california special rim weights are? Can't seem to find it anywhere online and was looking around for aftermarket rims to compare in weight, but don't want something significantly heavier to add to the unsprung weight.

I read somewhere about 31 lbs. But that's iffy at best.

I don't know what the wheel itself weighs, but the wheel and factory 245/45/19 Pirelli P-Zero tire combo weighed 61.2 lbs each when I took them off my car.

NacsMXer,

I have the exact same car as you and was wondering if you upgraded to lighter or heavier rims for your CS and if you could tell a difference. The stock rims and tires are 61 or so pounds with a 28lb stock tire which means if I got a 27 pound tire with a one pound heavier then stock rim i'd be breaking even, but the rear rims I'm looking at (Shelby CS1), are 40lb's in the rear making each rear tire and rim close to 69 pounds. That makes each side 8-9 pounds heavier in the rear. Does anyone know if i'd be able to tell that much of a weight difference?

I upgraded to 20 x 9.5" chromed aluminum Roush wheels and 275/35/20 Cooper Zeon RS3-S tires. They are heavy beasts, but they look oh so sweet on my car. They tip the scales at 65.2 lbs per wheel/tire, so I picked up 4lbs exactly. Not the most ideal thing in the grand scheme of things, but I didn't notice that much of a difference to be honest.

What I noticed more, was the huge handling improvement over the pedestrian Pirelli P-Zero 245/45/19's.

I found this to be interesting for reference: http://teamspeed.com/forums/aventado...orsepower.html

They found that a 4lb increase in wheel weight resulted in a loss of 2 HP/2 ft-lbs. Yes, a difference in the wrong direction, but are you really going to notice that a whole lot?

The cast alum 19" rims on late model Mustangs are usually right around 31lbs as previously stated, the wider staggered rear rims are a little more. I debated spending near 2k on new Forgestars, but instead opted for Ford Racing rims for my Boss as they are just what I need for street use.

They are right at 60lbs. When I switched to AM's 20" wheels with invo tires, the 8.5 wheels weighed 4lbs lighter while the 20x10 weigh 4lbs more than my CS wheels.

I'm looking to pick up the shelby cs1 wheels which even though i'm going with a wider front and rear tire, the front tires stay the exact same weight as stock, but the rears only jump up 7lbs a piece. Again not great, but i'm also upgrading to 6 piston brembo's which apparently are slightly lighter then stock rotors and calibers.

Where did you hear that they are lighter? How much lighter are they? I am contemplating the GT500 15" front 6 piston Brembos and 13.8" rear rotors as well but I figured they would be heavier than the stock GT rotors. I haven't been able to find a weight spec on these.

I was also looking at either a 4 or 6 piston Stoptech kit with 2 piece rotors which are surely going to be lighter than the stock GT brakes.
