2013 ambient color question
2013 ambient color question
I saw in a pic that the door sills were lit in a ambient color shot, which led me to believe this was included in this package. Then I went to the Ford site and it seems the illuminated door sills is a separate option? So ambient lighting only includes the foot wells, doors and cup holders then?
Not positive on this, but I believe any model with ambient lighting (any premium model) includes footwell, cupholder, and floor lighting.
I've yet to receive my GT from Ford so I can't say for certain, but videos like this:
(showing how you can change the coloring of the lighting) make me think it is part of the ambient package. See about 23 seconds into the video above.
Ambient Lighting
Available ambient lighting gives you your choice of seven colors – purple, blue, orange, red, soft blue, green and Ice Blue™ – to illuminate the footwells, cupholders and doors.

It's the set of buttons under the headlight switch. The info, setup, and reset buttons. The info button scrolls thru the trip meters and the MPGs. The setup button scrolls thru the lights and language options. The reset button is used to make changes to them.

My 2011 V6 premium package has the illuninated door sills. My wife always disables the entire cabin lighting feature though....she says its too much like a pimp car with them on...wonder how she knows?
Ok I have a question. I just bought the mustang V6 (base I guess, i don't see any denominations in my owner's manual such as GT, premium, etc), and it does have this ambient lighting in the wells, doorsills, etc. But I cannot find the button to change the color anywhere??
All I have is the **** that clicks to the right to turn on the headlights, and the dimming wheel for the dashboard.
if you send me an email at gg2552@columbia.edu I can show you pics of the front of the car so you can see what buttons I have there i took a few pics.

I guess it's obvious by now, but the V6 Premium ('13 MCA here) doesn't have those 3 extra buttons under the headlight switch. I didn't even remember we could (maybe?) change the color of the ambient lighting. When I tried I guess I didn't have the parking/headlamps on, so it wouldn't let me do anything by design, just some obscure message, but I thought I couldn't do it at all. Going to try later, though actually stock color (I think it's ice blue) is fine for me, if I can't.

^ Yup, the ambient color lighting changing works fine, and it does change the color of the sill plates too ('13 V6 MCA) which I think is what the OP was wondering. I'm not sure what DIC is, but if you mean the center cluster LCD display and steering wheel switch thingies lol, that's how to do it. Now I know where that "pimp" comment came from...
Except for steering feel, I haven't really played with any of the vehicle settings since the first couple weeks with the car. I even forgot some of what was there, because I didn't see the use for it...at the time...it's worthwhile going through the owners manual every so often.
So...I learned two new things about my almost 1-year-old car from the forum yesterday, from two separate threads. I wonder what else I'm missing? Mostly I just drive...
