2013 5.0 Engine Problem Only 10k Miles
So just within the last week I have been hearing a ticking sound at low RPMs that goes away once I hit 2000 RPMs. I noticed that it takes 5 or so minutes for the ticking sound to start and it does not happen at idle.
Went to my local Saturday Car meet last night and while backing into my parking space the ticking sound was bouncing off my friends Boss 302 who was parked next to me. It's kind of embarrassing if you ask me. A few of the guys also noticed the ticking sound and gave me their opinion. I just wanted to hear if anyone has been having the same issue? I will be taking it in to my dealer on Tuesday.

I recommend you make an appointment with your dealers to get them checked out. Then, PM me with your VIN, dealer, full name, mileage, and best daytime number so I can escalate this to the customer service managers of your area.

Not sure if this has anyting to do with the noise but when the service tech started up my car after the oil change it would not start. It took a few times for the engine to turn over. Once it started up everything seemed fine.

And what's wrong with the oil I used? As long as the viscosity of the oil is 5w20, there is no harm in not using motorcraft oil.

Injectors maybe. The 5.0L in my F-150 (and all the rest as I have read) are pretty loud. However, I haven't heard the tick in the Wifey's 5.0L.
Yeah, I just read this. Kind of a sorry excuse for an answer. Hope it's something simple for you. Keep us posted.

Because there are different oils that are often better suited for particular applications. Oil analysis of the motorcraft seems to indicate it breaks down more quickly than other oils. I will be doing oil analysis on my car after oil changes. The motorcraft oil is fairly pricey too from what I have seen. Would much rather use an alternate oil that has good analysis history, although it seems with my track pack mustang I am a bit limited with oil choice without potentially causing potential warranty issues

Took it by the dealer and they said all they would do is compare it to another 5.0 so........took it by friend's on the way home, he's a mechanic and a ford guy. He said it sounded like a cam phaser, it was probably normal, and that his truck does the same thing. Not sure what to do.

But since the 5.0 TiVCT is cam torque actuated, there isn't the same level of hydraulic action.
