2012 Mustang knock when shutting off engine

Hello,

I have a 2012 Mustang V6 Manual, Performance Package with 1,900 miles.

When I turn off the engine there is a knock when it spins down, right before it completely stops.

If I press the clutch in when I shut it off it stops properly with no problems.

Does anybody know why this is? Has anybody experience it before?

Thank you.

Hello,

According to many other forums for different cars, the shudder I am experiencing has to do with the dual mass flywheel. It seems to be normal.
Upon searching for the issue generally it seems all brands have it if using a DMF.

Thank you.

Not sure I can imagine what could be causing this, but the easy solution is to take it to your dealer for repair under warranty. I don't remember seeing other members discussing this same condition.

Hello,

This happens only on the V6's not the V8. Probably everybody is used to this and never mentoned it. For me it is my first RWD car.

Is your car manual or automatic? If it is manual, it only does the rattle when you do not press the clutch and the car is in neutral. If you press the clutch it stops fine. Also it is for the 3.7l V6 only.

Btw, the 5.0 does not use a dual-mass flywheel -- only the V6.

Hello Gizmobiaritz,

My name is Deysha with Ford Service. Please make an appointment with your dealer to make sure there is nothing else going on and PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can get this escalated to the Customer Service Manager for your area if needed.
