2012 BOSS 302 vs GT500 4 daily driver
#22
I have a Boss, it is not my DD. Never driven a GT500 so cannot comment objectively. I got the Boss because that is what I have wanted since my first Mustang, a bare bones 1970 6-banger. I got the Boss for weekends and track use. However, if I would have been in the market for a DD, I probably would have gone for a GT500 for:
1) much better interior amenities
2) Awesome HP and TQ
3) Bad- A** factor

The GT500 would win the weekend excursion, I want to enjoy the car, fight, especially with the extra low-end torque the motor and supercharger produces. Additionally as others have statted, the GT500 comes with more standard add-ons from the factory that the Boss will not have.

I've been DD my Boss for about two months now. It's incredibly easy to drive around town. In fact I learned this past weekend that it will idle uphill in 1st. I don't need a bunch of fluff but would like Sat radio and will probably add it at some point for the $300 in parts it takes. I have an iPhone for NAV and will also just upgrade the stock speakers and probably add a subwoofer. Would a GT500 be more plush? Probably. Would it handle better? No. Is it faster? Not really based on my run with the Shelby Club last month.

What?!? The Boss is $41,999 (approximately) and no dealers appear to be discounting them at all. A GT500 starts at about $49k, and with X-Plan it can be bought in the $44's. X-Plan can be used to buy a GT500, but not a Boss.
To me there is no question - the GT500. Proven engine, proven power, and the Tremec tranny. Look around - there are already Boss owners having the same problems with thier MT82 trannies that GT & V6 owners are having.
