Man, that V6 car just looks better and better all the time!

Just think, if it bust off 13 second 1/4 mile times Ford won't be able to build enough of them to meet the demand!

"making it the first production car ever to achieve a combination of over 300 horsepower and 30 mpg."
That in and of itself is a pretty amazing feat.
Nicely done Ford. Really upped the bar.

If I can't figure out a way to swing a new GT I am going to have to try a V6 instead, don't think I could go wrong doing it. Make a great commuter car.

I was actually dissapointed with the 5.0 mileage numbers with the manual as they were the same as the 2010 with the extra gear and only a mile better than the GT500 which has 138 more HP. Here to hoping an extra mile or two per gallon on the 5.0.

In typical fashion though, normally in the past a 97hp increase and 55tq would result in a decrease in mileage. So along with increased displacement and a gain of ~40lbs... staying virtually the same mpg and still beating the numbers set out by camaro and challenger is good in and of its self...

to me at least.

Hell, if I set mine on cruise to the speed limit, I get 28-30 mpg easy. And it's rated at 23.

I sort of thought the same thing, of course Ford in all of their ads has been quantifying this by emphasizing that the mileage has remained the same while power and torque numbers have increased dramatically. True. I do think, however, that better fuel economy could have been achieved if they went with a double overdrive transmission instead of the single in the MT82. But then of course we wouldn't have missed out on some good acceleration with the close ratios and taller 1-4 gears. We shall see. This is going to be an interesting spring.

Half of the Motor Trend commenters are impressed and half don't believe that the EPA ratings are valid. I think a lot of people are mentally stuck in the 70's and 80's. A generation ago everybody complained that their cars made less mileage than the EPA rating. With today's cars, though, the EPA ratings are often surpassed in real world driving. Do you suppose there are a lot of people that just don't know that it's OK to put their car in it's top gear when they are on the highway? I'm afraid I have family members that often drive one gear down from top gear even though they're going 60+ on a flat highway.

What was it two or three years ago when the EPA lowered the mpg numbers for all cars to make them more real-world.

The V6's numbers are great.

The V8's numbers are good. The same mpg with 412hp. thats fine with me.

Well, if that is the case then just think about the new V6 getting that much better mileage than the new rating. Could get 35 or 36 MPG if it does as good as your GT, huh?

By the way, how are you measuring that 30 MPG ?

Way to go Ford! That's an awesome achievement.

Hopefully this will help sell a ton of these cars and also add thousands and thousands to the Mustang faithfuls for years to come.

amazing how they one-upped the Camaro on pretty much all the numbers!

can't wait to see the real numbers from some real third-party tests . . . hopefully Hertz will have some of these cars on their lots by summer, so I'll be able to do my own testing before I buy . . . . just so there are no surprises

sounds like this new V6 really could be the "best of both worlds"

don't worry, I know what Im doing.. 30 mpg is easy achievable on the highway..
You may get a mpg or 2 better with the 6 if you take it easy but 36 is out of the question..
