I went to my dealer on 4-10-10 which was a Saturday, so I assume they actually placed the order on Monday 4-12-10! Basically my question is what is the process that happens, as far as how long does it take to get confirmation on the order, Vin #, build date etc.? Will ford contact me or will my dealer? I'm new to all this, this will be my first brand new car, thanks in advance!

 

Yeah, I placed an order on Monday April 19th. After I gave them a 100 dollar deposit, they seemed to be done with me. Like "See ya, buh-bye, go home now." I'm on an 11 day vacation starting this coming Friday, so I may go up there next week and pester them a bit for info. So far I haven't heard one word for them since I left the dealer on the 19th, no phone call, no text, no snail-mail, no e-mail. It seemed a little unusual for them not to try some follow-up contact. A 100 dollar deposit isn't exactly a vice grip from which I can't escape from without too much harm, not that I plan on it.

 

In most cases, you'll need to ask for it if you want anything like a DORA, VIN number, or build date. Otherwise dealer may not contact you again until the car actually arrives. All contact is through the dealer, with the exception of the 800 number info line people on here have been talking about.

 

yeah all my info is below about my order and i just called my dealer today and he gave it all to me.

 

Can you call the 800 number for a VIN? Or does the dealer only give that?

 

Dealer gave me the VIN for my car and all the dates then i called the 800 number and she gave me the same dates so i think thats good.

 

I ordered on 4/3 and I haven't heard anything, so your deal is the same as everyone else's. My dealer told me they would call/email with Dora, vin and expected date of arrival. Your dealer should do the same. It's not hard for them. Better ask them.

 

I got my VIN from the 800 number...The dealer kept on telling me they didn't know anything whenever I called about an update...
