2011 Mustang Info Thread

It sucks the server got hacked, but let's get back to it

Details (rumors) on the 2011 Mustang are as follows:
  • 3.7L V6 to be rated at 315 horsepower: Same as 2010 GT; 15 hp more than Camaro V6
  • No immediate plans for EcoBoost V6 Mustang due to small horsepower gap between EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 (365 vs 400)
  • 2011 Mustang GT to be rated at 400 horsepower, will get increase in 2012
  • 2011 Mustang GT to get 6-speed transmission and variable valve timing
  • 2011 Mustang GT Track Pack to include Brembo brakes
  • 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L V8, 6-speed, track pack, Brembo brakes ran even with 414-hp BMW M3, which is 200 lbs lighter, at GingerMan Raceway in South Haven, Michigan
  • 2011 Shelby GT500 to get Aluminum Block
  • Next special edition: 2012 Boss

Styling will not see a radical change as from GT to GT500 but will be fairly noticeable even to those not engulfed in the world of cars.

I have said nothing.

Is it worth the wait?
Let's just say I will be purchasing more that one toy in the coming years.

Having said all that - discuss.

Thumbs up

I was worried that Ford had sent the "heavies" around to Brad's place to get him to delete "The Insider's" information on the 2011

Good work getting the system back though, guys. Pity so much data has been lost though

What six speed manual will Ford use in the '11 GT? The same one from the GT500? Or something else?

Wow that does suck. If the insider is reading this, the rumor is there might be a short MY for 2010 due to the impending aluminum 5.4 for the gt500. Is there any truth to that?

Everyone seems to think it'll be the same Tremec 6060 being used in the Camaro, Challenger, GT500 etc.

I'm not an insider but it seems the story on the 2010 GT500 is one or all of the following.

Limited availability because of....

1) Still too many 08 and 09 models on dealer lots that need to move
2) Supplier issues/quality holds for some of the parts
3) Move to Aluminum block

True. What other 6-speed manual transmissions does Ford have access to?

It says 6-speed transmission, not 6-speed manual or even 6-speed automatic. Dual-Clutch 6-speed?

It's unknown what model 6 speed manual the Mustang will get. But the 6 speed automatic is confirmed to be the same one used in the F150 and Explorer Sport Trac.

That would be nice if it replaced the auto. But i would still want a manual

I say make manual standard and the dual clutch an option.

Yeah, wrrrrriiiiight, the car that's still dragging along a 19th century rear axle leading the parade with a 21st century tranny? Not likely.

You can also argue electric cars date to 1909, it all depends on how its engineered, it is ignorant to argue the axle is the same. Sure there are better axle setups but SRA works why change it, if you want to make it better add a watts link and you have nothing left to argue over.
