They kick you off the track if you go around and back in the water, and I had DR's on.
everyone went through the water before me and the 60ft wasn't slippery

The first time I went to the strip, the best I could pull out was a 13.5. A 13.3 is very good, considering. I remember being nervous as all hell. My second time out to the track went a little better. The more times you run it, the less nervous you get... to an extent.

If you go through the water box, you drag a little bit of water into the staging area. Not a big deal; it evaporates pretty quickly, especially on warmer days.

If you go around the box, you drag rocks/pebbles into the staging area. Those do not evaporate. Getting kicked off the track for backing into the box seems a bit odd, but I'm fairly certain there's a reason for it.

I only know because I did it once, I drove around and backed into the water.
When I got my slip the guy told me, "don't do that or we won't let you race". I was like ummmmmmmmmm OK. lol
