2011 gt driving impressions

i highly recommend going to the dealer and test driving one. it will suprise you. its a different kind of torque/hp. once the motor gets to its top rpm it is relentless. if you can really shift, it blows the tires clean off in the first 2 shifts. the sound deadening in the car is world class. very quiet car. very solid. very little body roll. never harsh but it easily outhandles anything i have driven. turn the traction control off to really enjoy it. there is no skip shift in mine at all. even granny shifting was normal.

the turbo car will catch this car on top end, but it will have to catch it.

Thanks, it's sounding pretty good. Ford has done a nice job with this new Mustang. When the 2005 came out, the beauty was back for the Mustang. Ford has refined it since 2005 to make it a really great car.

the ride is very good compared to earlier stangs. it does not hunt at all. steering inputs are very seldom. it tracks very straight.

everything is isolated. feel is great, but sounds are muted. you will have to drop the windows to enjoy the exhaust sounds which are just plain mean.

As a Mustang fan, and someone who knows Mustangs, you owe it to yourself to try and test drive one of the new 5.0L's. Of course, the new engine and transmissions are awesome, but it's the handling and ride quality that had me impressed during my brief test drive session. In fact, I'd go as far as to say the new Mustangs ride and handle every bit as well as my BMW 3-Series with Sport Suspension! They really have come a long way!

Yeah i will have to do that. My car rides like crap and it's really starting to irritate me. Of course I could just switch to better springs and shocks...

the car rides VAULT solid. a desription ive never attributed to a stang of many domestics at all. this new chasis modification is no joke. the handling easily exceeds 3rd and 4th gen camaros ive driven. and those WERE the standard of SRA handling till now IMO.

"1-4 shift for fuel economy" flashes on my display once and a while, but it's only gone into 4th twice on me. I don't think I was paying enough attention, and it just sort of fell into 4th.

The new 'Stang rides and handles as well as, if not better, than a lot of IRS-equipped cars I've driven! It really is quite an accomplishment; congratulations, Ford!

he is referring to his own 11GT. he has brembo's with 3.73's as the only options if I remember correctly. He just got his car last week as well.

Thank you and I still cant come to grips. They all run 12 second quarters it seems. The dang epa rating is all the same. I am thinking 3.55.

How much real world difference is there in gas mileage? There has to be some but some say there is none. I am just confused. I need real world results.

I've read that the EPA doesn't test models with all the available axle ratios. They just test whatever is the standard one, and use that same number on all the stickers. Most people guess that you would lose about 1 mpg each time you move up to a lower gear. Now that some dealers have some 2011's in stock, perhaps you should go test drive a few Mustangs with the different axles. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in fuel economy from a test drive but you would be able to judge whether the acceleration is different enough to justify optional gears. If you can't tell any difference by the seat of the pants, you may as well save yourself $400 and stick with the standard axle.

My current car has 106hp, so anything, and I mean anything will be faster to me. Looking forward to having the 412hp.

Not me! My current car has 80hp or so, haha. Currently shopping for something new, but unfortunately not in this price range. Too poor to get a stang - yet. Can't wait until I can though.

I can back that statement up without a doubt, my friend had a 2008 M3 which we took for a dew rides together. Had the chance to drive a 5.0 the other day ( not mine, but the dealer's ), and was indeed very IMPRESSED with the handling, ride quality. Fit and finish are top notch. And besides it's got a better sounding motor than the M3.
