I get why a lot of people might not like Windviel or Steel Blue...but I love the throwback to the old steel blues of the 60s.

Plus, it was nice to have a colour that chicks love rather than guys.

Me too. Gives you that sleeper look. Doesn't attract attention of the unwanted kind.

IDK, maybe it's just the city part in me....
But every yellow car just makes me think- it looks like you're driving a taxi. Granted yes- many are the big crown vics or something of the sort... but still...

Which makes me not a real fan of the Yellow Blaze Mustang/Fiesta/Whatever. But I think it's still cool it's being offered.

Just I guarantee that no sales of these will occur in areas like NYC, Chicago, or other major cities. People will be raising their hand at you constantly.

Steel Blue looks alright. But from the pics of that Fiesta I'd rather see Screaming Yellow again over Yellow Blaze.

Since we're talking about what we'd like to see, how's this for a utopic fantasy? You go into the Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealership and they've got a giant board with samples of every color offered for the model year, regardless of which vehicle. Each vehicle still has it's own standard 6-10 colors that are available at the standard price. For an extra charge -- say $1500 -- you can order your car in any of the colors that are being used that year. You want an Edge in Grabber Blue? No problem. It'll take a little longer to get and it will cost you an extra $1500, but you can have it. You like the Atlantis Green from the Ford Fusion but you want it on a Mustang? No problem, $1500 please. I don't have a clue how much it would increase Ford's cost to do this, I just pulled the $1500 figure out of my hat. Perhaps it wouldn't be feasible even at $3000. If people will spend $5000 for a supercharger on their Mustang, how much would they be willing to pay if they could choose from an additional 25+ colors?

It would probably be cheaper to buy a black car and take it to a paint shop, with the added bonus you could pick any color ever offered.

Do you have a ballpark idea of what it would cost to have a black car repainted another color? Maybe there's an auto-industry accountant who can give a ballpark estimate for the factory paint idea. It obviously wouldn't be practical for Ford to paint cars one at a time. If you wanted a Mustang in Steel Blue, Atlantis Green, whatever, you would have to wait until they've got enough orders to paint several of them that color.

I believe that is Steel Blue. But since I don't have Lincoln order guides at work (only a Ford store), I can't look it up.

I like that Steel Blue. I think it would look really nice paired with a Saddle interior.

That is a fact! I think if they included it, I think it would sell well.

Especially to this new market they are trying to reach with the V6. I think a lot of Audi/BMW/Infiniti buyers would like this color combo. Without a Mercury Cougar or Lincoln MKIX available, the Mustang has obviously moved upmarket a bit. Ford needs to offered some more sophisticated color options other than black/gray/gray silver/silver/red/white/yellow/blue with black/gray interior. Let's see some nice greens and different blues, and maybe even a bronze or brown metallic!

With the Mustang moving upmarket, and no Merc/Linc coupe at all, Ford should really broaden the color palette for the Mustang. I'd love a Tuxedo Black, for instance...

Tux Black would be great too. If I get a 2011 I'm having it painted Ford's pearl white that is available on the sedans.

The thing is, like I've mentioned in my other posts, I don't really want the Mustang to move upmarket. The market has spoken though. $40k Mustang GTs are right around the corner (and if you get a vert, already here). The technology that has been put into the latest generation of the S197 platform is impressive, but expensive. But in only a few years much of that technology will be available on every car down to the Fiesta and below, so hopefully the cost of that technology will go down.
