2011 5.0 dyno numbers???

This is what I was thinking too!
Can't we at least find out the pricing from one of our dealer forum members on the 23rd. Why wait an extra 2 weeks????
I'm trying to figure out where such power would come from. It doesn't have any new technology in it. It isn't DI, it is N/A ( that we know of ), it is small displacement. It can't possibly make LS3 torque knowing these facts, so the only way I can see it can make those numbers is to rev. Maybe a 7k redline?

Evolution said over 6 months ago that the 2011 GT500 was getting an aluminum block. Does anyone have any doubt now about that? I don't and I remember where I heard it first. Not sure what the "official" relationship between Evolution and the Ford Racing/Engineering is but Evolution has been given certain "things" in the past to see how far they can be pushed before breaking. Why would Ford do this? Well Ford gets some free R&D and truth be known Ford knows its good for the aftermarket to be ready as soon as possible after a new drivetrain hits the dealer's lot, especially a Mustang product.
The only doubt I have about the 425HP factory rating is whether Evolution correctly understood that the rating is for a GT and not a special edition. But, really don't you think Ford wants to kick the Chevy & Dodge competition in the NUTS
and nothing less than 400HP will do that! With 425HP I'd say game over! game over! (till next model year anyhow)Besides doesn't someone else remember early this year both Bill Ford & Alan Mullaly at separate Mustang gatherings slyly confirming a 400HP Mustang in the near future.
I will simply state this.... You saw what we did with the Shelby GT500 so quickly....... the 5.0 will be even quicker time frame wise I guarantee it!

im not calling anybody liars or agreeing with anyone. i choose to believe the official release on these numbers. hey i hope you guys are right about the 425hp number, i would love that but i will wait for confirmation first before i start digging in my wallet and so on.
Any doubt now that Evolution has been beating on a 5.0 Coyote????
Probably marketing will determine whether its offically 400 or 425; either way sounds like you'll be able to mod it to do more.
LOL! 400= Jack Black *** kick 425= Bruce Lee gonad kick LOL! Well Ford what say you????
It'll be a loooong 2 weeks to find out.
This is gonna be sweet; heading out to get the popcorn now to tune into Camaro5 forumn after the LA Show announcement when the rest of the world finds out what we already know

I call bull****. I'm sorry... there's just too much information I know to believe that. Do some searching around on the internet, and you can find the information about the GT500 aluminum bottom end slightly before those posts. Same with this information, other than the mis-rating on the flywheel power output.
Let me give you a solid prediction about the 2011 myself. It will have 4 wheels. And one in the trunk!
Not to be a smart guy, but Ford is giving proto-type products to large volume, large square footage facilities with testing tracks and disposable funds for these tests. Not a 3-bay garage.
This is NOT a stab at Evolution, even though Fred will take it that way because of prior history. We're a warehouse facilities with 4000 square feet and 30 foot ceilings of unusable space (3 bays as well), so they're not sending them here either.
I can pull a post out where the 2010 Mustang will be "unveiled" for the first time at Evolution, too. Not at some pesky Detroit International Auto show or anything like that. But on Market Street in sunny downtown Aston, PA. Come on, we get the hype... every company toots their own horn.
You're one-sentence, hype-ups that always end in an exclamation point are always welcome, but some technical data to back up your claims one of these days would be nice. Good luck in your venture, I enjoyed watching your Shelby success, and will be watching to see how fast you can shoot one of these 5.0's down the 1320! But stop telling people that I'm out of business, sweetheart!

Not complaining, though! How about you? How's she running? Definitely give me a call whenever you're ready for the cams! We'll throw it up on the rollers and see what kind of gains we can pull out!Oh and a serious prediction about the 2011, from the information that I've read Freddy boy wasn't too far off his rocker. 400-425 at the flywheel is what I was told to expect, as well. However, that 468 flywheel information must have been spray painted on the side of a unicorn as it galloped across dream-land.

I would not be surprised if it was a 'hey lets just see' test that got those numbers.
Like I said before, obviously that would NOT be the purchase/reliability tune for 2011 that we'll all see.
Let's be realistic here.

GM guys would laugh, Ford guys would let out a collective sigh of dissappointment, but an extra 50 - 60hp over the current car would get the job done as long as Ford keeps the weight the same or drops it where they can.

Over the current car, I believe there will be a 100 horsepower at the flywheel gain. 400-425 seems very reasonable to believe. I meant an extra 40-60 at the flywheel on a different calibration with maybe a different airbox tested for a special edition is believable.

Fingers crossed in any event, its hard not to get excited over the possibility of a 400+ hp 5.0, but being a Ford fan and hoping for a big HP # is almost the very definition of pessimism. Hopefully, with the extra infusion of HP Ford can do something about the rear suspension and that axle tramp
, ride quality and dynamics aside, its laughable that the Camaro is better sorted out as a drag car and the Mustang is the better corner carver when it should be the opposite.
Ahhh... I see now

another thing to look at is when the mustang gt was changed up for the 2005 model year it saw a 40hp increase. BUT that increase came when there was no real competition breathing down its neck. Now that you have a new school challenger/camaro/charger, i dont see why ford wouldnt atleast start in the 390-430hp range. If we get OVER 400hp in this car, not only would it shut up the camaro or charger/challenger but it would also silence 370z's, genesis, g37, and would also make the base vette worried when one pulls up along side of it. To me it would be a very bad business move if this mustang wont be able to sweep the competition(not only camaro/challenger) and have more room to take on bigger and better things. If a base vette is killer why cant a GT be just as killer? Why is that too much to ask for?
Well how do you think Ford should position the GT to its primary competition the Camaro SS & Challenger RT/SRT?
Assuming the new 5.0 package keeps weight gain to a minimum , we know that 375-390HP should be sufficient to put it equal to its 2 competitors.
But c'mon there's so much "wow" factor to be had if Ford rates it @ 400HP. The buzz in the gearhead forums and headlines in the car rags would generate a lot of free publicity for the 2011 model. I can't see Ford passing on this opportunity so I don't see it being rated at less than 400HP just based on "good" business practice.
Only way it would be below 400HP is if Ford felt reliability would be compromised and therefore not a "good" business decision
If reliability is acceptable @ 425HP then Ford has to make a decision on the additional "wow" factor the extra 25HP would garner in the car world and how it might infringe upon any SEs they have planned. A SE with 450HP doesn't sound so special if the GT has 425HP but it might if the GT only had 400HP. If the 5.0 has enough additional headroom to pump out 475HP in a fashion that Ford is comfortable backing with a factory warranty, then we'll be seeing it released @ 425HP which will totally remove our competitor's HP argument and probably make the Chevy & Dodge boys cry
Evolution has stated it will be released at 425HP from the factory; they been right before; we'll see if they are right again in a couple of weeks.
And if it does turn out to be 425 I've gotta believe that any SE model will be 475HP or alittle more
