I think all of Fords new powertrains are worth getting excited over, even if only because of the fact that they are striving for 'better than average'. But there's more to it than that.

They aren't LS1s...engines made by god himself...
and I can see why people would be scheptics.

My one and only problem (other than $$$ hehe) is deciding which year/model to get.

Oh and just to add... yes.. you're right.
You won't get 2010+ GT500 performance without doing some modifications,
and the GT500 won't stand still performance wise either.... to think so is unrealistic.
....

I'm trying to figure out where such power would come from. It doesn't have any new technology in it. It isn't DI, it is N/A ( that we know of ), it is small displacement. It can't possibly make LS3 torque knowing these facts, so the only way I can see it can make those numbers is to rev. Maybe a 7k redline?

Thumbs up

Personally I enojoy trying to read between the lines in Boomer's threads, although I agree it can be as frustrating as Hell sometimes.

Still, to me the wait for the new 5.0 is like waiting for Christmas morning when I was a kid. The buildup is all part of the fun

If you can spend $5k on the new GT and put 750 to the wheels on pump gas, reliably, I'll be impressed. You sound like one of the dorks who mods a fox body to run 11's and thinks it bothers people like me. I can make a civic smoke a 2011 GT as well as my GT500. Who cares. The Cobra is the better, cooler car. There are plenty of modded stangs faster than a stock GT500. I don't care. Do you think if I get beat by ratty *** 2004 Mustang GT with a bunch of mods I'd prefer to own his car? LOL. By 2012 I will be tired of seeing 30 2011 GT's on the way to work. If that's your thing, cool. It's going to be a cool car, with less power than you all think. Thinking it holds a candle to an SVT is just dumb and shows jealously. Keep hatin' buddy. When you get your 2011 GT, throw a few mods on it and see if you can lay down mid 11's with slicks like a stock GT500 can. =)
I wasn't "hatin" at all. I love GT500s, and if I was trying to be a dick...you'd know it.

I think your (over) reaction speaks for itself.

And by the way, having the skill to build up a car to be quick is *always* cooler than just plunking down a bunch of cash for one that already is. "Fact".

Yes, I did read that part. Then you said that base model with have 375 HP in the next sentence. Now you're saying that 375-400 is a realistic expectation?

I never said it was realistic to expect the car to come with 425 HP, so...thanks for agreeing with me?

What other version WOULD there be?

And yes, those are truck power numbers,
and not tuned for high HP 'hey look at what I can make'

I don't think those numbers would be its fully untapped potential either

Sorry, I must have been under the impression that both the 5.0L Coyote and the 6.2L BOSS were finding their way into both the F-Series and Mustang lineups in 2011-2012. Is this not the case?

Yeah, I heard that the 6.2 is a little too large and heavy to bother with for the Mustang. Something about couldn't fit comfortably in the engine bay? Don't remember if I heard right.

I see this date of Dec 7th and the LA auto show being bandied about for the "official" release of the powertrain info, but dont the 2011 order banks and option listings come out on the 23rd of this month?

It fits. Roush put one in. But it's too heavy.

You should be able to handle an SS. (0-60 5.5, 1/4 14.2).

Looks to me like you are really trying to justify your purchase more than anything, you're the only one hating on anything around here.

And it doesn't show jealously it shows envy and is something you should be proud of being a gt500 owner.

if you tune that 6.2 for HP i wouldn't be suprised if it makes 500 N/A but like everyone else is saying, too heavy.

my guess: 5.0 @ 415 HP

im crying for a decent MSRP, someway shape or form ford is gonna have to still be able to position themselves under the camaro and challenger as far as pricing. then it would truely be a one two knock out punch to them.
